I remember back in Jason Maher Mafia soc really wanted to "fake" recruit people using the PM. It's a very risky thing to do, but kudos for having the cajones to pull it off.

Yeah, the irony of it now being done on him

Oh man, he's going to be so cranky when he finds out

This game f**king sucked. Every merkin but me got given 10 f**king lives.

Ahem, not everyone, although lol at people in the QT's asking why the hell I was still alive even though it was still early in the game.

On that note though, I'm not a fan of substitutions. At first I didn't care because it kept the game active which I like, but when I turned mafia I realised that the two people who were most likely to out my character (MickyJ and Bazal) were both dead but revived so I didn't have the option of taking out identified townies.

In the end it didn't matter as I died the first night after turning mafia anyway (after taking out JM), but thinking about it more after that it does feel very similar to players being able to release information from beyond the grave.

Inactive players can obviously unbalance a game, but allowing players to accumulate information and then bring them back in a different role will probably unbalance the game the same amount if not more.

As I said though, it's very hard managing inactivity and game balance.

My power was I would receive the last PM sent or QT post, as well as a 50% chance of actions failing against me. I missed 48 hours or so and got ultra lost which was made worse by knowing nothing about GoT.

Didn't you target me on the last night too?

You would have known the PM was a fake but Didgi killed you. Some nice irony

Town should have followed my lead when I tried to lynch him very early (even if it was complete guesswork and made me lol when people actually started voting.)

Haha yeah that was quite funny. We could tell you just wanted something to happen but it could have been disastrous.

 Even better.

Come on soc, where are you? Embrace the rage son!!!

Pretty much, didn't even try to hide why I was voting. Funny thing is that if definite information didn't come out the lynch may have gone through the way people were voting.

I get where you're coming from. In our case the precedent had been set when I assumed NT's role though. We were in the same faction so at least I didn't have any access to information I didn't have previously. The main difference was activity in the thread.

Yeah my plan was to hopefully survive a kill attempt and get a QT post with maybe a name mention.

I knew you had changed factions at some point once I noticed you had another kill but I didn't know why. So I made up that targeting/investigating bullshit. I'm not sure why I bothered, the day phase was not going to have a result, I think I just wanted to talk some more shit to pass the time

Pretty funny that D10/mickyj was actually in the real Targaryen faction. Slightly embarrassing that I completely forgot about Jorah Mormont though and instead made the second member Aemon Targaryen... otherwise D10/mickyj's character alignment in our fake quicktopic would have been 100% correct.

Ahh, that game was so fun behind the scenes. It's a pity our quicktopic got too large (I'm pretty sure 85% of posts are Drew and I) so you can't read our ramblings.

I don't think it had any real bearing on this game at all due to the way things panned out, but it certainly has the ability to screw over mafia more than town. As mafia taking out threats/those with knowledge is a big key.

In my example if I attacked a known townie then I'm outed almost straight away, and that's the only reason I killed JM instead (so it did effect him in a way). I see little effect from this game, but I do think it could really screw a faction (most likely mafia) if it became the norm.

Well done lads, very nicely planned out.

Fake PMs are a luxury in these mafia games, as nobody really questions anything anymore, people just go with what they're told and play the game as rash as possible. I think it stems from playing game after game consecutively, though wouldn't have it any other way.

A good way to test them is to ask the GM a question about them. I won't use them in games often, but it suited the theme.

IF I had not been attacked by 3 people at once as Mormont drew would of died as he was next on our hit list. Pitty the dragons came into the game late. The best thing about the group was the recruitment which needed people to target. But when Hoggs and I got the roles late it would of been obvious it was us as they did not start doing anything till then.

Mis out of curiosity, what would've happened if I targeted my siblings while a Lannister?
