On the verge of his 100th Test, Gary Kirsten will call it quits after they finish their tour of New Zealand.

He scored 7120 Test runs, plus 99 Tests and including 1 Test as captain.

Good bye Gary.

Well done Gary Kirstin, youve been my favourite south african batsmen and good luck in your future years.

He might continue to fill his boots at FC level back in South Africa, but there is no word whether he will or not.

he said he would retire from cricket as soon as the birth of his child...he said now that his son Joshua is nearly 4 months old he has delayed it...so i think he is retiring fully.

A very very fine player. Sad to see him go, but his record is testament to what a very good player he is

Yep have loved watching him, but cringed every time he has come out to bat against us. We tend to be his bunny of late.

Great batsmen and he has chosen to retire while he can still mix it with the best of them.

He probably thinks that the way Kallis is going recently, he'll stuggle to get a bat anyway, so he will call it quits ;-) . Anyway, top player and South Africa will miss him.

Yeah he has been a great opener for South Africa over the last decade. His half brother Peter was a good opener as well.
