I suppose they sacked him because with the change back to one ref there wasn't mushroom left.

I'll see myself out.

I'll never forget a game between Parra and Cowboys at Darwin. Two legitimate Cowboys tries were called back by Badger on the ruling of "forward pass", when the replays showed they were fine. The crowd got really angry when the saw the replay on the big screen.

When a couple of Cowboys suffered serious injuries against Melbourne on a kick chase, Badger and Atkins let Melbourne play a full set against 11 men, even though the Cowboys winger was lying on the ground with a serious compound fracture, then Atkins awarded a penalty to Melbourne after Munster took a dive.

The 2016 finals game between Titans and Donkeys was the most disgusting case of referring I've ever seen. At one stage the Donkeys centre kicked a Titans player in the back with Badger looking directly at it, and was not penalised. Badger and Sutton did everything they could to get a pathetic Donkeys over the line, with one of them saying "only __ points in it now" to the other.
Maybe he was under instructions and had to do it to stay in the boys club.

Beats me, at least he doesn't come off as a merkin of a human.

I think you're right. Refs are going to do what their bosses say. Foxtel and Ch9 probably want specific teams at the top because they draw the ratings.

The refs have had a bastard of a year.. Changing back to 1 ref after the covid break, Annesleys weekly review and assessment of rights n wrongs, 6 again rule and a few new ones....

No one's ever gonna be happy with them, just the way it is. But I'm far less critical of em this year because of the above...

Re Badger - Surely cost-cutting in the NRL must have led to this. Ie - need at least "X" (number) of referees off the books.

Interesting to note - the NRL site hasn't even got Matt Cecchin on the list! In my mind, and many others, the best ref we have.

He'd hung it up. Blown on the pea for the final time. The whistle was decomissioned for good. Or so he thought...

In a year thats brought up EVERYTHING, no one saw this coming. WHOOSH! Was that an arrow? Who is firing?

The Archer. Toe! Neah! ARCHA!

I think Nable would also borrow the “blow that whistle, ref” line just to make it more naff.
