Re watched nsw cup game last night.
Some take away points-

All the young guys are very raw, tago, turuva, May all look promising. Hopefully can play all year in cup injury free will be great for them. Turuva definitely looks exciting. Strong running game, had a few mistakes in him but that was understandable given weather.

Burton's running game is so direct and fantastic. It's a shame he didn't stay with us. I'd seriously be tempted to play him off the bench as a second rower/lock in nrl. 14. May 15. Spencer 16. Martin 17. Burton. Yeo can spend time at prop with Martin. He could be such an x factor of the bench. Be an absolute nightmare for tired defenders coming on fresh just running the ball. I know he's at the dogs next year but I believe he can help us win the comp this year and that should be the focus atm. Hope he gets his chance in that role at some point. I know it leaves us with a small bench but all our starters play huge mins anyway other than leota.

Kurt Falls was very good. Haven't seen much of him.

Thought Rob Jennings great. Over 200 on weekend. Was very safe and looked dangerous given it was wet. He made a lot of the hard carries and still had close to fastest play the ball speed for the team which is impressive when doing the hard stuff into the big boys.

Really like Billy burns. Very good hole runner. Has good speed and a very good step for a 2nd rower.

Lindsay Smith is going to be a good player. To me it looks like he still needs to add 5 or so kgs and really fill into his body but he looks good. Similar to tamou and manages to stay standing in tackles.

Catching up on some NRL news, reading the rumours around Katoni Staggs staying with the Broncos or perhaps joining the Titans. Given our success in recruiting kids from the central west he was certainly one we missed out on. Maybe Gould’s third biggest blunder after the failed long term deals to RCG and Blake.

I think there are some NRL players coming thru our system, no doubt. Great to see some promising outside backs.

I feel a bit sorry for Billy Burns, I think he is capable of being an NRL player, has ability and strengths but given Ivan’s selections in the first three rounds it seems he has dropped down the pecking order.

He is off contract, we have some serious talent off contract in 2022, I suspect he is going to have to look at an opportunity elsewhere to further his career.

Capewell is going to QLD next year, Burns will get his chance if he stays I think.

Capewell will be gone and he slots straight in

Hopefully, talented player.

I think the only thing with Capewell’s situation is his only option appears to be the Broncos (if his preference is SE Queensland). The Titans have already invested heavily in the forwards and appear to be focussed on bolstering there outside backs. The Broncos have major salary cap issues and while going home maybe Capewell’s preferred option I’m not sure the Broncos have the cash. It will be interesting because we probably can’t afford to pay him what he wants either.

If he waits a year Dolphins, or Jets will get a marquee signing with him,
Pretty sure he was playing for the Ipswich Jets before he made grade at Sharks

I also wonder if Kikau plays into it at all. Sure he might stay on for unders but damn he is going to have some monster offers thrown at him. If we know Billy is going to chase his payday it might be an idea to bet on Capewell longer term.

Depends if we lock him up before he can field offers, and if we do, he gets to continue at a lower rate than what other teams could/would offer, but he wouldn't get the crisp ball and service from another team like he does here, coz the teams offering huge coin are the cellar dweller who can afford to spend overs on kiks

After that game last night I dont know how anyone can argue against the speeding up of the game by the NRL. That was a free flowing exciting game of footy that was dominated by the defence in the end. Maybe you could argue against some of the specific rule changes but the overall effect has been brilliant. Sure the good teams will really punish the shit teams under these rules but IMO that is how it should be. The fact a lot of these rules are new is making the gap look bigger as the good teams have adapted much faster than the shit teams, they will all get there in a season or two.

A slower game is a less skilled game imo. Size and strength become far more important than skill in most positions the way the game was 5 years ago.

I couldn't agree more. As a spectacle last nights game was awesome. It also seemed to be over very quickly, there was no period where it dragged on. I remember looking at the time & there were only a few minutes left before half time, it felt like only 20 minutes had passed.

As you said, defence was still the most decisive aspect of the game, but both side still had some great attacking moments. The thrilling finish was just icing on the cake.

Great story in today’s paper
Our management over the years has got contracts horribly wrong over paying and giving long contracts out
But in today’s paper it states we have no players with options in there favour on the books .this is great to see as we are seeing the broncos with 4 players makes juggling the salary cap so much harder if you don’t know if players are staying or going due to the option

For some reason people are anti anything PVL does. Which is dumb because he would of had no say in the rule change and how good is it. She haven't mastered the player 'injured' wasting time yet but that is the only blight on the speeding up

What is with the Matty Johns Sunday show?
For the second week straight the wrap up on all the games did not include the Penrith game!

Yeah they are funny sometimes but it terms of footy analysis of the latest games they are next to useless. ,Flecth and Hindy have nothing to offer in that regard they are just there to be dumb and dumber on Mattys show. Matty Johns can offer good analysis but he has become to much of a TV host now he doesnt really go in depth about anything he just tries to crack jokes and talk everything up. It plays on kayo after the games so i watched a far part of both Thursday and Friday and its pretty boring. I want some real footy talk not these stooges trying to be funny for an hour. Watching Latrell last night they really struggled to even relate to the bloke and get him in the conversation.

I've done a quick (unofficial) survey on twitter. Those complaining are generally from the Dogs, North queensland, Manly.

Generally teams who struggle with fitness, and have less than decent strength and conditioning personel.
