Alco Buzz has had a last throw at the stumps to help his Sharkies this weekend you guys have taken the bait
Should tell the ol buzzard, that Nicho needs to go to the UK, ply his trade, as he has become a very overrated halfback, trindle is easily the better player at that club

These points don't stack up I'm afraid.

Nathan Cleary has nothing left to 'cement'. Literally nothing. He isn't some up and coming young player with a point to prove anymore.

And then there is Mary Fowler. She is playing for a small club called Manchester City...she isn't leaving to go kayaking with Nathan on the Nepean.

I'll take a wild guess and say she is also quite competitive and wants to win a premiership (Something she has never done in the EPL). She isn't going to 'throw that away'.
Of course Nathan has more to achieve. Being dominant in 3 premierships gets you into comparisons with Johns, Lewis, Meninga etc. 6 premierships and you blow them off the park. 9 and you ensure there are literally no further discussions this century (or longer). Hiding in the UK for half your career means the legacy discussions will only have half the picture of a players career. I personally would never have a player who played half his career in the UK in a GOAT discussion and I doubt I'm alone in that.

I'm not into the artificial hype around women's sports, but even if you consider it to have comparable prestige to men's, every argument you can make for Mary not having to sacrifice her career you could make for Nathan. If she isnt leaving for kayaking, why would he want to leave for tea and crumpets?

Well to be clear we are not talking about half his career. It's a sabbatical likely 12 months. It would be longer than the trip Andrew Johns took.

You can paint a picture about achieving more but it's just masturbatory at this stage. He is head and shoulders above his peers. Achieved something that no team has done in this century and we will probably never see this happen again in our lifetime.

And you are right about the travel. If Cleary ever pulls the move then Fowler will do the same in return. He gets a heroes return with ridiculous hype and hauls his club to another premiership.

We've watched Penrith let players walk even recently JFH. He signs a deal to only return here. If it ever happens I will not be surprised at all.

Oh and I should add...Ivan Cleary has never played or coached at state or international level (Unless you count Lebanon).

Nathan will be a retired multi millionaire at 35. He can travel then

I'm yet to see anything that suggests Jett is that level of player
In fairness to Jett Cleary the Nathan Cleary from say Harold Matt’s, back up dummy half no one could have predicted he would go on to achieve what he has.

Do I think Jett Cleary will graduate to the NRL, I think he might, he might play NRL at some point, I don’t see a long successful NRL career I don’t think he quite has the necessary skill set.

Do you think Nathan would be happy with his SOO career overall?.I reckon, personally he would feel he still has something to prove.
No reason he couldn’t move to England and still play SOO if he still wanted to. Could draft his own contract to have 8 weeks off in the middle of the season.

I think Nathan Cleary has unfinished business in his NRL career and representative career.

He probably hasn’t played the amount of NRL games, SOO games and games for Australia that he could or should have given he debuted in 2016.

I personally believe he needs to be our leader going forward to maintain the dynasty that we have built, which includes the seasons from when he began in 2016.

This current season is not over and we have a great opportunity to make our fifth consecutive grand final. If we are to overcome the Sharks he will almost certainly be instrumental in that happening.

Saturday night is huge, it is not a given, it is a great opportunity to put our best foot forward, seal the deal and get to a 5th straight grand final.

Ponga pulling out of rep selection end of year. Can't be arsed.

It's disappointing to see but shows where we are at. The players hate the season being so long and they'll even skip on a Kangaroos jersey if it means getting a rest. And if you believe his statement he wants to win a competition.

If he 'retired' from rep football it wouldn't be as big of an issue. But he clearly doesn't mind playing Origin mid year.

Ponga wants to play for the All Blacks one day, that's his real reason

He actually did the same and withdrew from Origin a few years back.

He should retire from rep football and stop dicking around then.

I understand his position but if the jersey means anything then players like him shouldn't be picked.

Funny that the Sharks cop a bit of flack for their finals performance but there is little mention of Melbournes.
They have been in the top 4 for the last 5 years yet only played in one Grand Final (2020 against us).
Interesting to see what happens this weekend.

The perfect end to our dynasty will be to beat them in this year's GF. Just a shame we'll be wearing pink for it
