The Four Sided ring is back!

Despite recently being announced for a ROH show, Brian Kendrick is rumoured to debut as Red's mystery opponent.

Kendrick is NOT the "major acquisition" TNA have promoted and it's almost certain that Kennedy/Anderson is the man for that role.

I'm a fan of the squared ring when it comes to this sort of wrestling.

Has me more interested in TNA.

While I'm still not sold on the Hogan/Bischoff regime, I don't see a problem with them going back to the four sided ring.

Fans don't watch wrestling so they can see different shaped rings. It's about the performers so as long as they don't drop the ball there, in the long run the ring shape will make SFA difference.

Hahahaha

Lets start changing what made TNA different, which is what gave TNA a niche market share.

Lets start changing what made TNA different, which is what gave TNA a niche market share.

I'd say this would be part of the reason for the change. Hogan/Bischoff don't want a niche market share, they genuinely believe they can end hunger, obliterate poverty, and achieve world domination.

Like I said, a nothing decision that will have little impact long term.

An interesting note.

- Sources report that the Bobby Lashley vs. Abyss match will not take place tonight as Abyss will attack Lashley and lay him out before the match.

Ken "Kennedy" Anderson is then set to make his TNA debut in the match against Abyss. Anderson has been confirmed as the "major acquisition."

This is why I prefer TNA. Small building, close quarters, nowhere to hide from the fans.

Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff make their way out to the ring to a nice reaction from the crowd. A big "Hogan" chant breaks out. Hogan welcomes us to Genesis and there's Brooke Hogan in the crowd. Hogan welcomes us to the brand new iMPACT Zone and that gets a mixed reaction. A big "we want six sides" chant breaks out. Hogan says you had six sides and it only got you so far. The crowd boo's at this. Hogan rips on the six side ring and the crowd is hating it. Hogan puts over TNA, trying to get the fans back and takes a shot at Vince McMahon. Bischoff takes the mic and says it's quite obvious that nobody likes change but that's what they are all about. More boo's from the crowd. Bischoff says get used to change because there's a lot more coming. Hogan ends it with: "what ya gonna do Vince McMahon, now that we're coming after you?" The music hits again and Hogan & Bischoff head to the back, slapping hands with the fans.

Sure the chances are these were the same fans who laughed when TNA first introduced the 6 sided ring and like everyone else they'll get used to it, but still priceless.

<H1 class=contentTitle>Ongoing TNA Genesis Report and Commentary
January 17, 2010 09:33 PM EST
views: 154

As reported earlier, TNA's January pay-per-view, Genesis, opened up tonight with a new look. Gone is the long-time staple six-sided ring, exchanged in favor of the traditional 'squared circle' that has defined the sport for over a century.
-Thank God. The six-sided ring, no doubt meant to evoke images of the legitimacy of the UFC Octagon, was a ridiculous creation. If you ever watched many matches in the hexagon, it's clumsy and dangerous to wrestlers more accustomed to the four-sided ring.

The first match out of the gate was the 'X' Division championship, with champion Amazing Red facing someone billed only as a 'mystery opponent'. Turns out the mystery opponent was none other than Brian Kendrick, a.k.a. the former 'Spanky' from the WWE. Red defeated the debutting Kendrick with his 'Code Red' finisher.
-I really figured this would be Jeff Hardy's debut, seeing how he arrived to much fanfare at the live 'Impact' on January 4. Of course, in the interim, Hardy was indicted on multiple drug related felony charges, including trafficking, so he may be on ice for TNA until those issues are resolved. You'd hate to put a belt on him just to have him take it to the pen with him.

During the course of this match, it was announced that Bobby Lashley was refusing to wrestle Abyss later on the card.
-No kidding. There have been comments by Hogan lately that he wasn't happy with Lashley moonlighting in the legitimate world of MMA at the expense of his 'rasslin' commitments. I wouldn't expect Lashley back soon.

After the match, there was a backstage interview segment with Hall and Nash, with Eric Bischoff and Sean 'X-Pac' Waltman. Curiously, Waltman begged Hall to let him wrestle in his place. After being hesitant, Hall and Waltman engaged in a rock-paper-scissors contest, which Waltman won. It appears Waltman and Nash will face Beer Money later.
-Read, Scott Hall showed up tanked, so the fans that didn't want to see The Outsiders get double screwed by now having to see Waltman wrestle as well.

Sean Morley (Val Venis) defeated Chris Daniels with his 'Money Shot Splash'. No, you read that right. A guy that hasn't wrestled regularly for a major promotion in years cleanly pinned one of the most talented wrestlers on the planet today, for no reason.
-Hulk Hogan stated the new TNA would be different than the WCW he helped bury. Really? Morley pins Daniels? What's next in the new TNA? David Arquette wins the world title? That would be different.

Tara defeated ODB two falls to zero to recapture the Knockouts title.
Nobody cares. Moving on.

Matt Morgan and Hernandez defeated the British Invasion to win the TNA World Tag Team Championship.
Thank God, at least something happened that people can get excited about. Hernandez and Morgan are good athletes, good wrestlers and both share a fair amount of charisma. They aren't necessarily strong enough for either of them to win the World Title yet, but this is a good start. As far as British Invasion is concerned? You won't see them again. They don't fit into Hogan's plans.

<H1>AJ Styles Beats Kurt Angle, Retains TNA Title at Genesis Thanks to Ric Flair
Jan 17, 2010 by Ric Stevens

The match between Kurt Angle and AJ Styles for the TNA World Title was everything it had the potential to be.

The two men battled for over a half hour, giving it their all the entire time. Counter after counter they battled.

Angle was even able to hit the Styles Clash on AJ, while Styles was able to hit the Angle Slam on Kurt.

Ric Flair came out about half way through the match and stood at ringside and watching the match.

He didn't get involved until late in the match when Angle had the Ankle Lock hooked on Styles.

Flair pulled the ref out of the ring before Styles could tap out. He then slid the belt to Styles who knocked out Angle with the strap after giving it some consideration.

The ref was then rolled back into the ring to give and counted 1-2-3 giving Styles the win.

Looks like AJ Styles is turned heel and Ric Flair is his leader.

"It's all about the title," Styles said to the camera as the PPV drew to a close. "And I have it."

Mr. Anderson Officially Debuts With TNA At "Genesis"
by Matt Boone
Jan 17, 2010

Ken Anderson (aka Mr. Anderson, aka Mr. Kennedy) finally made his TNA Wrestling debut during the "Genesis" pay-per view. Below is an excerpt from our WrestleZone TNA "Genesis" PPV Report on Anderson's TNA debut:

Abyss vs. Mr. Anderson
Abyss comes out. We "don't know his opponent" yet. The lights go out and we hear "Miissstteer" out of nowhere Mr. Anderson appears in a dark, blue light on the ramp. A microphone comes out of the ceiling. "Looks like I done crossed the line," Mr. Anderson opens with. He tells us he's read our Twitters, Facebooks and emails and he knows we missed him. He says quite frankly, I missed myself. He says this next part is something for the history books. And that is...."weighing in tonight at an absolutely freaking astonishgly 235 1/4 pound, heiling from Green Bay, Wisconsin......*clears his throat*....Misss...he stops....Misssttteeeeerrrr Kee........Anderson!" Wait for it, he tells us. "Anderson!" Up goes the microphone and back on come the lights. Mr. Anderson makes his way to the ring. Our match begins and Abyss is dominating the action so far. The crowd is way into Mr. Anderson. He's the only "WWE-thing" getting over tonight. Mr. Anderson finally slows Abyss down as he clips his knee from behind. Mr. Anderson slams Abyss' arm into the steel ring steps outside on the floor. He wraps his arm around the ring-post now and pulls on it. "Over-rated" chant from the crowd. Mr. Anderson playfully mocks the crowd for their chant. He grabs a chair. He goes to swing it but Abyss kicks the chair out of his hands. He throws Anderson back in the ring. Anderson catches Abyss coming in with a boot to the stomach. He slams his head into the turnbuckle. Abyss goes for the Blackhole Slam for Anderson fights his way out of it. He hits a neckbreaker and tries a pin but only gets two. Abyss catches Anderson coming off the top with a chokeslam. He tries a pin but Anderson kicks out at two. Abyss hits Mr. Anderson out of nowhere with the Shock Treatment. He pins him but Anderson still kicks out at two. He tries to pin him again but Mr. Anderson again kicks out at two. Abyss gets frustrated and brings a chair into the ring. Tenay and Taz say Hogan won't be happy with this. We see a close-up shot of Anderson putting brass-knux on his hand. He blasts Abyss with them, puts them in his tights and pins Abyss for the cover. The crowd chants "cheater, cheater."
Winner: Mr. Anderson

After the match:

"The winner of the match....Miiisssttteeerrrr Anderson!" ....."Anderson!"

Desmond Wolfe Defeats D'Angelo Dinero at TNA Genesis PPV

Jan 17, 2010 by Ric Stevens

Desmond Wolfe was able to defeat "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero at Sunday's TNA Genesis pay per view.

Good action in the match which brought chants of "this is awesome" at points throughout the match.

Dinero scored a number of near falls on Wolfe, but a nasty lariat out of nowhere would be his downfall.

It was reminiscent of a JBL clothesline that will take your head off.

By far, this was one of the best matches of the night.

Beer Money Inc. Victorious Over The Band at TNA Genesis

Jan 17, 2010 by Ric Stevens

Scott Hall cost Kevin Nash and Syxx Pac their match against Beer Inc at Sunday's TNA Genesis pay per view.

Hall came out and distracted BMI allowing Hall and Pac to get the upper-hand. However, he would soon stumble out to ringside and assault a fan.

Syxx Pac hopped down from to break up the skirmish. BMI then hit Nash with a Super Kick to take it home.

After the match, Nash refused to shake Hall's hand. Meanwhile, said that he was going to call out The Band on Thursday's Impact. --- --- ---

Hahahahahaha

Sounded awful.

6 months left of TNA?

Just so I understand, even though Hall is a drunk, they are now using that as a story angle and persona for him? Or is he really turning up wasted still?

If they are, they're copying WCW's storyline from 98 when he kept turning up drunk.
