George Burgess contrite after trashing car and security door in Cairns

FRUSTRATION over being stranded outside a woman's apartment on the outskirts of Cairns is believed to have incited South Sydney enforcer George Burgess to trash a car and security door.
The Rabbitohs hardman has been fined $10,000, outed for two matches and ordered to undergo anger management counselling after Queensland police charged him with two counts of wilful damage.
Burgess yesterday issued an unreserved apology and admitted guilt over the incident, which occurred around 2.45am Monday following a night out with teammates in Cairns.
Souths players celebrated their 30-24 victory over Gold Coast at popular backpacker nightspot Gilligans, where it's believed Burgess became friendly with a woman.
The party was captured on social media by fellow Englishman and North Queensland Cowboys player Scott Moore, who posted a photo of himself and brothers George and Sam Burgess on Instagram and Twitter with the captions "3 English bonk dogs" #reunited and "Sh*t gets messy when the Brits get together" #getloose.
The Daily Telegraph understands George Burgess was driven to the woman's home in Redlynch, about 20km west of the city, and was the only player to leave the group.
A short time later Burgess became agitated and sources close to the NRL's investigation have claimed his frustration was not related to the woman's conduct.

It's believed Burgess was keen to get back to the team hotel in central Cairns, with South Sydney coach Michael Maguire notorious for enforcing strict curfews on away trips.
But he was unable to contact a taxi or arrange a ride back into town, triggering a violent outburst.
A Queensland police statement has confirmed there was a "disagreement" between the 21-year-old and a resident of the apartment complex.
Burgess responded by damaging the handle of a security door and smashing the rear windscreen of a parked car, which did not belong to the woman he'd met earlier that night.
It's understood he used a nearby real estate sign to smash the car window.
"I would like to apologise unreservedly to the Rabbitohs members, sponsors and everyone in the community," Burgess said. "I have let my team and my family down.
"I acknowledge that I am a role model for kids and I will do everything I can to restore my reputation through working harder in the community.
"It is my responsibility to ensure that this type of behaviour does not happen again."
Burgess eventually made his way back to the team hotel, before informing Rabbitohs officials of the incident. He was presented to Cairns police and released in time to travel back to Sydney with the team on Monday afternoon.
Souths CEO Shane Richardson informed the NRL on Monday - far quicker than the five weeks it took to come clean about the Ben Te'o incident - and the Integrity Unit wasted no time imposing a hefty penalty ahead of Burgess' scheduled appearance before a Cairns magistrate on July 10.
Burgess' axing means his twin brother Tom will debut off the bench against Parramatta on Sunday.
