Getting Tough On Divers

I agree but I do think it’s because he’s always fighting in tackles to get a quick play the ball. Watch him he’s always wriggling to get up no matter the tackle
Yesterday he (Sivo) was fighting and fighting to get up.

Didnt get the quick play the ball so then stayed down and played for the penalty.

Gets the penalty. Automatically recovers.

Sprints to the touchline to get the ball for the tap restart.

That is pure taking the piss on his part.

He's the biggest diver in the NRL atm, no wonder Bradley Parker flogged the little bitch.

If refs don't miss blatant coat hangers like the Olam one, players won't stay down.

It's a two way street. I hate diving but I hated it more when we didn't do it and copped reamings against sides that did because penalties got missed. If everyone has been doing it for years it's pretty rich to single out one club.

Start with better reffing and the diving will stop. And if it doesn't, penalise it

Could they not implement a “medical test” similar to a HIA where the player has to leave the field for a short period to undergo an assessment of the head and neck area?

Like last night, Sivo claims a crusher tackle, penalty is awarded, Sivo cannot miraculously get up and carry on, he has to go off for five minutes to carry out some movement tests or whatever, then comes back onto the field. a thumbs up by the trainer isn’t acceptable. Especially when you’re claiming the head and neck has been manipulated with excessive force.

The referee determines the foul play aspect, in conjunction with the VR. If not, it’s an on field penalty and/or reported. Player goes off for a check and returns after x minutes.

Make it a free interchange or whatever.

Just come up with something to ensure it’s not just a penalty play.

One issue might be that players stay on the field injured, knowing they risk getting 5 minutes off the field.

With that said it already happens every single game. Plenty of players try to stay on the field while injured e.g. Storm mullet guy last night. They don't want to let anyone down by going off.

So ultimately the responsibility falls with the trainers, and we should fine the shit out of clubs/trainers who are taking the piss.

That's a smart player right there.

Next time people will either let him up for the quick play the ball, learn to slow him legally or risk a penalty

Dont be a playa hata.

They could start by rewarding 1 on 1 tackles somehow. It is twisted at the moment. A 3 or 4 man tackle is rewarded and a 1 man tackle is punished, it is essentially an error. That is totally around the wrong way.
I can’t agree on that. Teams have to work hard in order to isolate a defender to force a one on one tackle.

That's a massive detriment to players who are illegally fouled, and a huge incentive to continue crusher tackles by the opposition.

Well no. You still get the the penalty. Players who are crushed in a tackle will still leave the field for assessment and those players offending should be put on report and will likely be suspended.

It's to lopsided in favour of the offending team

in my opinion that’s a strange thing for teams to be working towards. I suppose it is so they can get a fast play the ball. So they can catch the defense retreating.
The speed of the play the ball should be irrelevant.

It also sounds like what you mean is isolating one of the halves, some big ball of muscle can run at a half. If a half brings a big ball of muscle down (usually in a classic one on one tackle) he should be able to tea bag him for five minutes.

It’s strange for teams to work towards the most effective way of making yards?

I suppose what I am saying is maybe the fact that's the most effective way to play/attack is not a good thing for the game as a spectacle.
If you reward 1 on 1 tackles it would cease being the most effective way to make yards.
