Ice won't (can't) answer, how about someone else ?

the hottest tickets in AFL heartland are.................

AFL tickets.

the hottest tickets in league heartland are..................

AFL tickets.

how is this good exactly ?

I'll answer it toe rag.

Swans make Grand Final and had a base of supporters in Melbourne of 20,000 from the old South Melbourne club.
West Coast Eagles have a supporter base who unlike many League supporters in Sydney travel, and travel all over the country.

League fans in Sydney (for all clubs) look out side and say.....gee I might have to get over a bridge and I don't want to coz our game should still be the NSWRL.

Manly v Dragons two weeks ago got 41,000 now lets figure this out toe rag. thats around 20,000 per team both based in Sydney and tradional clubs.

Storm gets 13,000 to a game with under 500 being opposition supporters who travelled from Sydney.

Storm been around for 8 years and gets around 35% less than two teams that have been around for .....mmm 80+ years....gee, lets see what does the Storm bring to the game now toe rag.

Gee some of you Sydneysiders are clued in aren't you.

Your question is explain in the answer.

People up there don't travel for League end of story, AFL supporters travel no matter what.

How is that good, well that means there is an untapped market up there for League clubs and teams to target and get those supporters the are travelling down here for the Swans to supporting League.

But then again we don't want that do we? That would mean more people supporting League which would be wrong as we couldn't have our game grow now could we!

really clued in aren't you toe rag

Indifference is worse than disdain. If the sourpusses hated Storm as much as I they wouldn't be selling their tickets for less than cost price.

Well yeah but your club has been Victorian owned since 1999 so I wouldn't expect any different.

A little fact about rugby league in 2006.

* New South Wales played Queensland in Victoria - it sold out.
* A Queensland team is playing a Victorian team in a Grand Final in New South Wales which is apparently heartland (despite clubs in rugby league heartland ecstatic with crowds of 15,000, yet if the Storm gets 10,000 to a game - it is a disgrace)

Surely rugby league heartland :)roll:) can offer better to the sport?

I notice taxidriver is a Dragons fan as well as Godzilla and that goes so far to explaing their pathetic and childish anti Storm attitude. I say pathetic and childish because that's all you can call it if your hatred for a side and your insistance on wanting them out the comp stems soley from the fact your team has had little or no success against the Storm. It must eat you 2 halfwits up deep inside so much to see us in the big one

It will sell out as there were only a couple of hundred tickets left. Whether eveyone with a ticket turns up that's another thing but even if they don't, every ticket will be sold so therefore it'll be a sellout.

You have to admit Storm have a great sense of humor when they got Geyer to kick the last converstion from the same spot as 7 years ago.

All this talk about the pain of that day so the club stick the knife in again, and again, and again.....I could go on but don't want to fill the page with how many times that pain keeps coming back for them.

Blokes like this represent the c*ckhead element of Storm fans

I think the point being forgotten is that 15000 tickets were left for the competing clubs, being Melbourne and Brisbane. Of those 15000 tickets, only 900 remain according to the article linked earlier in this thread. Therefore, 94% of tickets available to Melbourne and Brisbane fans have sold. That would mean, by my reckoning, that the tickets being sold at less than face value are from Sydney 'fans'of League, and the finger pointing for this should be at the 'league heartland'and not the fans of Melbourne and Brisbane, who are taking time off work (monday is not a public hol in Vic), as well as forking out for transport and accommodation to see their teams play off in the big one.

What a nothing thread. Interesting points below in compaing this year’s to last year’s Grand Final:

Telstra Stadium's 6000-seat corporate hospitality section not only sold out quicker than last year, it also raked in more money.
Manager John Montgomery said the last package sold on Saturday – four days earlier than the 2005 fairytale decider between the Tigers and Cowboys.
"From our perspective the all-interstate grand final hasn't affected demand at all, in fact it has broadened that demand."
Even the second-hand market for tickets is not as buoyant as 12 months ago.
About 700 tickets were last night available on eBay – fewer than the same time last year.

Sold out

UNLESS you fancy a glimpse of the game through a cheerleader's pom-pom or television tripods, forget heading to the grand final.
In a black eye for doomsayers who decried the interstate decider as a non-event, only a handful of restricted view tickets remain for Sunday night's big one between out-of-towners Brisbane and Melbourne.
Aside from obstructed vantage points at either end of Telstra Stadium behind the cheerleaders and boom cameras, every seat at the 80,000-capacity venue has been sold.
The unlikely rush has emanated from an unlikely source – Sydney.
Rather than drift into rugby league oblivion with the demise of its last two hopes – St George Illawarra and the Bulldogs – the city has embraced the visiting teams like long-lost relatives.
Of the 15,000 remaining tickets snapped up since Monday, almost two-thirds were purchased by Sydneysiders.
Ironically, many of the locals in the stands on Sunday will be Bulldogs and Dragons fans who purchased tickets in August hoping their team would win through.
But instead of off-loading their seats along with their premiership dream, the vast majority are still headed to Telstra Stadium to witness the historic clash.
Bulldogs diehard Brett Rowe, from blue and white heartland in Belmore, said handing over his tickets was not an option.
"It's a grand final – who cares who is playing?" the 31-year-old said.
"I would love the Bulldogs to be there every year, but that's not going to happen.
"Although I obviously didn't expect it this year, an interstate grand final was going to happen sooner or later.
"As a Bulldogs fan, it's actually better. If we can't be the best Sydney team – no one can."
Dragons fanatic Glenn Baker is also enthused about the prospect of witnessing a new chapter in the game's evolution.
"I'm disappointed the Dragons aren't going to be there, but it will still be a great game," Baker said.
"And if it happens to be a classic, I can always say I was there."
As far as Sydney is concerned, the south-west suburb of Edensor Park has become an outpost for the Melbourne Storm.
It's there that Heather Spickler and her son Luke have decorated their house and car in a purple haze of grand final fever.
"It's attracted plenty of cheering, honking horns and, I must confess, a bit of friendly abuse too," Ms Spickler said.
Along with other Storm fans, the pair trekked to Mascot last night to welcome their heroes to town.
"I took the whole month off work," Ms Spickler said.
"People thought I was crazy, but look who's laughing now."
And it's not only rank-and-file punters who are swept up in the contest's unique appeal.

did you even read the article ?

the headline says SOLD OUT, then the first line tells us tickets are still available

spin doctoring at it's most blatantly obvious.

log on to ticketek yourself and have a look, every category is still availabelas of a few minutes ago.

have a look at ebay, the prices are ridiculously low.

the question remains, we keep getting told this is brilliant for the game - why ????

Well if it wasn't already proven beyond any shadow of a doubt how much of a knob Taxidriver is then all that surely will. As has been mentioned before, if there are empty seats in the stadium they'll only be the Sydney fans who have tickets and don't show up which is more of a sad reflection on them than any of the interstate teams supporters. Thanks for strengthening our argument TD. You're an idiot

I'll also say though, well done to all the Sydney fans who are still going who either brought tickets in August, or brought them this week even after knowing who was playing. It's great to see that many can look past the petty, naive and single minded attitiude that's had by a minority of halfwits that only have their best interests at heart and not that of the game of rugby league.

Where have i avoided the issue? The game is SOLD OUT! and if it's not it will be. That means every ticket is sold and has nothing to do with people not turning up. Even if every ticket was sold and only 50,000 showed up, it's still sold out. There's someone avoiding the issue here and it aint me.

As for the insults, i'm merely pointing out what you're making blatantly obvious in what you post. But seeing as i've obviously upset you i'll refrain from doing so, i'll just let your posts do the talking for me ;-)

If there are tickets for tickets for less then face value should be no problems being a full-house in the "home" of Rugby League.

It always staggers me that it's people who claim to be league lovers are the first one to try to bring it down.
