GI can't come back soon enough

Boy we are missing his leadership out there and energy... we are missing his magic with ability to create and ability to stop tries. In that game against Warriors he saved 4-5 potential tries at fullback when AJ was injured!

We can continue with solid AJ who can't tackle at the back or create much! We can exit day week 2 of finals and be happy and so oh we exceeded our expectations and pat ourselves on the back, or we can put AJ back in his best position and GI in his best position and really fire up in this run home. GI at fullback is in the class level of Tedesco and Slater but AJ is nowhere near that level....

I'd be going with this when GI is back....

1. GI
2. Campbell (right wing)
3. Jennings (left centre) defence may be a bit of a worry but he is pretty strong as we've seen!
4. Gagai (right wing)
5. AJ (left wing)

Or maybe AJ and GI can alternate at times and then just move Robert in one to left centre!

If GI just stays on that left edge whole match we aren't utilising him as best as we can imo....

Another option is Gags at the back but my mate who goes for Newcastle said he can't pass right to left well.

I agree we're missing him but it's so friggin important we don't rush him back as that could turn out to be very detrimental.

GI should remain in the centres imo too. We've built up combinations all year with those positions and changing this late could throw us out of whack.

I hope we can really lift for these big games.

If you think we’re missing GI on our early season form why would you want to change his position? It doesn’t make any sense.

Fair enough.... I just worry AJ doesn't have the class when it really counts.

Hopefully if he's all good he may be back for the Rorters match...

I don’t get this out pouring of AJ hate coming from you R20. If we don’t go deep in the finals it won’t be because of AJ at fullback, it will be because we don’t have good defensive patterns yet. Basically our D is for disorganised not for defence.

It's not hate, I just think his best position is wing..

We are equal first in the competition and have got there with GI in the centres and AJ at fullback.

There is no way that Seibold will move GI back to fullback at this point in the season unless forced to do so through injury.

It's just not going to happen. If you think it will then you haven't got a clue about football.

You don't mess with your spine this close to the finals unless you're absolutely forced to do so. Particularly when you've just won 10 of your last 11 games.

It is hate - every week the same comments on Callmack’s team reports, bagging AJ by R20
I always watch the games live at ANZ and then watch them on replay at home to see who does what. And I notice a lot that he does that you don’t realise at the game.
You seem to zero in on certain players who get blamed for everything, and idolise a player who can do no wrong(eg Goodwin)
If you want to blame somebody for last weeks game, blame the players who started the rot. For example, Tom dropped the ball twice - on the 4th tackle in good field position and on the 2nd tackle after a penalty, when we were attacking their line- we never got the ball back from that point for the rest of the first half and had to defend multiple sets and had a player sin binned in that time.
I try not to criticise other posters but feel that you zero in on players you don’t like and never let up.

This is the same guy who was furious a guy who had presided over 3 years of abject failure got sacked and then spent the entire off season bagging his replacement without even giving him a chance to prove himself. The guy who incidently now has us joint top.

Aj is safe at the back and has done the job all year. Funny how you want to mess up the best attacking side in the NRL with position changes. Stupid talk.

Some wanted to remain loyal to Madge because he "led" us to a p/ship--I get that!!

Some were wary of getting a rookie coach to replace him--I get that too!!

I think many of us had our concerns re. Seibold as he had no runs on the board in the NRL!!
I seem to recall that most predicted Sths to finish about 12th due our record in the previous couple of years & with the apptment of a rookie coach.

I don't think too many expected this result from Sths!
I think R20 is probably only one of a number who had their doubts!!

I actually like him.... sorry it seems I'm a hater... I just have high standards and look at Tedesco making 200 metres a week and AJ is stuck around 70m. He doesn't pop up enough imo...

I'd just like him to get involved more personally.... I feel he could be something great rather than just good!

I know I'm not the only one who has suggested this.. go into the Burrow and you'll see there are some that share the same view I do...

I'm not convinced with johnson at fullback.

He's more a finisher than a creative player. Compare him with the other nrl fullbacks and I dont think he's as theeatening.

But then we need GI in the defensive line.

Careful mate DKOR thinks we have no idea about Rugby League.

Hold on whilst I message my Father who's bled red and green for nearly 50 years @callmack1 let me tell him he has no idea about Rugby League.

In fact let's let all guests reading this page know if they agree with me that they have no clue as well..... this kind of talk isn't gonna help us grow the forum.... it's gonna kill it imo.... let's walk into Souths Juniors and tell some really passionate Souths diehards in there if they think this then they've no clue...... I sure know what their reaction would be...

I've mentioned this forum to fellow Souths members and they say they don't come on any of these forums due to all that goes on and how offensive things get....

We can voice disapproval like @Go Bunnies has. I respect your input mate even when we have different views but thanks for not getting personal... I'd love nothing more than to win 22 and I'd love see AJ be MOM against Storm this week... I want for all our guys to improve... I want Tom and George to hold that footy without their silly brain fart penalties and to show the Storm we are serious.......

If this is moved to the troll cave so be it but I'm actually being deadly serious here...

Maybe look at our game plan as well. We use our wingers to make the metres from kicks. AJ catches the ball and unloads to a winger to take it up. It’s to get the wingers involved more.
Remember too that AJ has to do a lot more tackling than some of the fullbacks that conserve their energy for attack.
Yes Tedesco is fantastic but boy he made a lot of errors at the beginning of the year with the Roosters. And there will never be another GI.
