So he stopped playing for whatever reason, still got paid but not included in the salary cap and is now playing again.
So in theory anyone can take a gap year for whatever reason and still get paid, not be included in the salary cap and come back when they want.
So an injured player who’s out for the season can now be excluded from the salary cap for 12 months to get 100% fit then come back again.
It definitely sets a precedent. But I’m sure it’s only a club by club thing.
