Gibbs - would it surprise if he was being used incorrectly as well?

I think Gibbs has been much better on average this year than the last couple, it's just that he still has inconsistency in his game. Thought he was close to our best yesterday to be honest. One has to wonder how well we'd be going with a fit KG & Gibbs & Payten playing like that every week. Oh well.

Bryce Gibbs has disappointed me as I really expected him to be an automatic SOO and verging on a test player by now, but he is far from that at the moment. That being said he was no doubt one of our best against the Raiders and if he plays with that aggression every week he will quickly become one of the best props in the NRL !

i was thinking the same thing
Gibbs looks and plays more like a 2nd rower for sure ,hes defense is great
if we can get another prop i think we will find it will move into the back row cause sheens has played him there a few times

Aggression is the key word ........

Bryce lost his aggression the day O'Meley knocked him out imo.

That's crap.

People go on about O'Meley knocking out Gibbs as if he lined him up and put one on his chin. The fact is that it was a fluke/accident. It only looked like O'Meley meant to take him out because (as he commonly does) Willy Mason carried on like a dickhead over an unconscious Gibbs. O'meley did run full tilt at Gibbs, but it was only the fact that Gibbs' head ended up in a bad position attempting a tackle that caused the problem. O'Meley's hip/side connected Gibbs' head and it was lights out. That could have happened to anyone, and in fact similar incidents happen several times every year.

To say Gibbs has been gun shy since 2006 because of that incident is drawing a long bow. His perceived lack of aggression or more accurately lack of dominance over other packs is more to do with the bantamweight cleanskins he's had supporting him in the front row rotation.

Only now with naturally aggressive big boppers like Laurie and to a lesser extent Payne, along with an angry Galloway has Gibbs had the back up needed to take on opposition pigs.

Gibbs is NOT a backrower. He is a fine prop with outstanding defence & stamina, along with an ever improving meterage gaining ability. Also, he is yet to peak. That will come in the next couple of years.

I agree with what you're saying Gus, in that the incident wasn't anything to write home about, other than for Mason carrying on like a pork chop. But it's still fair to say Gibbs lost his way after that game. He is definitely getting back on track, if only he could string more than a couple good games in a row together he'd be right up there with the best. His defence is certainly near the top as far as front rowers go, and when he's on song and confident, is a good metre eater, if not necessarily a devastating runner of the ball, but very very solid.

FMD, a few scratchy wins against nuffy teams and I'm willing to talk up anyone!
