I was down at Ctown Stadium this arvo and i was meant to to watch the JBC prelim match between mounties and Windsor... decided to stay at the ground to watch the balmain v manly NSW CUp game...

I noticed this big black player from Manly in the number 5... I asked one of the Manly staff who is this player playing in jerysey 5 and he told his name is Gideion Mzembe and is currently being chased by the dogs very hard...

At first i mistaken him for jamal idris because of the dreadlocks and the physical features are almost similar.

I only watched the first half of the game before i went home and he looks very impressive on the wing, almost wendell sailor like when he runs with the ball... shame his defense needs to be worked on though.

So what else do you guys know about mzembe?

Former Bronco, comes from Malawi, fled political turmoil with his family when he was young.

Came to Manly this season after spending a couple at the Broncos, but hasn't been brilliant from what I've seen - he's quite quick, and has a bit of size, but no real defence and I don't think he's been all that brilliant in attack. Although he has certainly improved a lot as the year went on - physically he has the potential to be a first grader. Whether his ball skills and all the other parts of his game can come together (remembering that he hasn't been in the game all his life, he is still learning) will be the interesting question. He certainly has cool hair, so I hope he makes it just because of that.

He's not as big as you say he is, when he was at the Broncos I used to see him hanging around the toilets a lot when I went out on the weekends.

Seriously he's about 5'10 and must only weigh 90 kg's max? Bout the same size as denan Kemp, not exactly the rampaging Dell clone you make out.

Was with the Broncos up until this year. Played Broncos colts for Wests in 2005 and then reserve grade for Toowoomba Clydsdales and Aspley in 06/07. Seen him play a lot. Very good player

Going out on weekends to the toilet block is highly suspect.

Try the movies or a restuarant for a more normal experience.
