His last 2 games have been super quality.

I think he's won his starting role back along with captaincy.

AT LEAST for game 3. Next year is another story.

And Hayne probably let himself down a bit the past 2 weeks.

You missed a word

"Giddley for NSW Cup Fullback"

yea, that sounds far more accurate than the current title

Gidley's defensive game tonight > anything I've seen Hayne do defensively this year

i would see dugan or coote before gidley gets his fullback position back.
how many origins did gidley get as fullback? to be fair i think hayne should have equal opportunities before being replaced by dugan or coote though

Yes... because he has been great for us in all of his Origin games so far.

He's now rightfully behind Jarryd Hayne and should also be behind Josh Dugan and Lachlan Coote. On form they're easily the best fullbacks NSW have and these guys are only going to improve.

Hopefully we look at next season when picking Game 3 and give Lewis the (c) and either drop Gidley or let him have one last game off the bench. He can't be part of the 2011 team though.

fmd...here we go. You can put your money on the idiot selectors jizzing themselves at the opportunity to deny a talented player like Dugan or Coote an opportunity.

You guys know it'll happen.

Gidley's been the form player the last 2 weeks, he'll get his starting job back ;-)

ITT: knights fans still don't realise that it doesn't matter how good Gidley plays at club level. forget the 4 or 5 tries he saved or the pressure kicks from the sideline. forget the kick returns. forget the brilliant form hes been in since origin 2. it doesn't matter to this forum.

my prediction: he has earned his #1 jersey back for the blues, everyone in here will blow up about it, he'll play an average, but not terrible game in Game 3 and be beaten pillar to post for it... despite Hayne being able to do no better when he was given a chance... and despite Gidleys club form being superior.

my opinion: Dugan 4 Blues #1, Game 1 2011. i don't care what happens Game 3 this year... but i do recognise Gidleys stellar club form the past 2 weeks. either way, Hayne is on the wing in any origin side i would put together.

Knowing our selectors your probably right.

Like it or not though , Gidley doesnt have the origin X factor hayne can bring. And imo should be considered behind Coote & Dugan aswell.

Luke Lewis should be starting lock & captain of NSW!

lol even if Hayne's form doesn't warrant the fullback spot it should go to either Dugan or Coote, not Gidley ffs.

that sure did stop Gidley's detractors, didn't it? and Mullens, and Campeses... etc etc. i'm not necessarily basing it on Hayne's form at fullback just in origin either. he must be the most "casual" fullback as far as getting to the ball and returning the ball goes in the comp. another word for it might be lazy. his positioning is below par at best. he would be on the wing in my origin team, 11 times out of 10.

Hayne has brilliance in him. we are seeing it less and less, though... and i'm not convinced that last years form wasn't similar to Campese in '08. a flash in the pan. a purple patch. Hayne has a lot to work on as far as basic fullback play goes... we all know the x-factor he can bring, but it's not worth it when it costs you in the more basic areas. he goes well on the wing, he is proven on the wing at origin level. it's where he would be in my origin team, and there are 2 or 3 blokes i would pick ahead of him at fullback at the moment.

I'm still yet to see a decent case made against Gids to why Hayne should be picked over him.

Gidley is a fantastic club player but can never reproduce it in Origin.

I'd like to see Dugan given a shot either in this next game or the first game next year. He's a better option than both Hayne and Gidley at the moment.

However if the selectors refuse to blood Dugan this year or next, I'd give the spot to Hayne in Game III and if he can't make it his, put Gidley next year, if his form is still better than Haynes..

Well, noones denying that Gidley is a good player, i certainly rate him as a good fullback, but atm there is nothing Gidley does to warrant selection in the fullback role, let alone the side and he's shown that since his very first debut for the blues. As far as Hayne's concerned, alot of you blokes really haven't been watching parra games, positionally he's improved dramatically, defense also, but at the same time just like halves i don't rate fullbacks for defense so scratch that.
That said, i'd like to have either Cootes or Dugan be given a go, although as a Hayne fan i would like to see him cement his spot in the fullback role at the same time.
