Gidley for NSW fullback

lol @ the Giggly's or Gidtards.

Good form for the Knights but Origin player he is not. The Titans and Eels are not the QLD origin side. Gidley simply hasn't cut it at that level.

Hayne or Dugan for FB.

Lachlan Coote?

:lol:
He is the leading try scorer. He's safe under the high ball, great at chasing attacking kicks and has no fear when contesting the ball. He's also a huge part of the Panthers being near the top of the ladder after most people (aside from Brandy) tipped them to miss the top 8. Prior to this weekend he was also second on the Dally M leaderboard.

I just hope that his size doesn't prevent him from ever getting a shot.

i'm a massive Coote fan. i also hope his size doesn't prevent him reaching rep honours. it will be an interesting battle between Dugan, Coote and Hayne over the next 10 years for rep selections... as much as i would rate Hayne behind them both as far as fullbacks go... Haynes raw talent is undeniable when he's in form. he really needs to work on his game, though. i think it's dangerous for Hayne atm, it would be easy for him to just ride the coat tails of his own limited success rather than put the effort in to improve... or be humble enough to recognise the glaring deficiencies in his game and work on them.

i wouldn't be surprised if Hayne ends up at 5/8th down the track, tbh. if he can get a good, consistent and heavily involved halfback to steer the team around he would go alright there.

It's truly a shame that we don't have the same level of competition for the halves. It would be great if Hayne does end up in the halves later in his career. His first run at 5/8 wasn't all that successful. But he certainly has the playmaking skills to have another crack at it down the track. Maybe he just needs the right halfback to partner him.

It is funny how the Newcastle Knights fans, and our idiotic selectors, are the ONLY ones who want Kurt Gidley there. At least RABK has some common sense.

Who cares if he had a few good games for Knights? He has shown time and time again that he is NOT an Origin fullback!

No-one cares if he can make 150+ running metres from fullback at Origin level. Slater makes half the metres, but has twice the impact because he actually breaks the line.

Gidley this season = 8 games for Newcastle, 2 linebreaks. 2...and that is including the one he made today.

Last season, Gidley broke the line 3 times in 21 appearances for the Knights. 2 of those linebreaks came in a man of the match performance against the wooden spoon Roosters who had by the far the worst defense in the competition.

Gidley might make a lot of runs, but at Origin you need a fullback with an x-factor, a linebreaker with pace who can score tries and pose a serious threat. Hayne has been garbage this year too. Dugan and Coote are by far the form fullbacks available for NSW selection, and if you knuckleheads calling for Gidley's selection can't see that, then your heads are further up your backsides than Loz, McCarthy, Bozo and Gerrard.

By some of your logic, if Cooper and Weyman went back to club level and had good games, they deserve selection ahead of players who have been consistently performing better than them this season. Hmm...

Dugan is better than Hayne and Gidley combined, as a QLD fan I'd be more worried if Dugan is there instead of Hayne or Gidley. Gidley is a good bench utility though.

Lol, to be clear. I wasn't exactly pushing his case. Just saying on the back of the past 2 weeks;

Gidley in great form
Hayne in sh*t form
Dugan injured

He'll be there game 3.

Although personally I would pick him as FB for game 3. Hayne's been average all year. And I don't think Dugan is physically up to it yet. Any other NSW fullback isn't even in question right now.

If Dugan is injured, why the hell not pick Todd Carney at FB, gives NSW another kicking option.

Gidley's great form over the past couple of weeks? Didn't see the game today so I can't comment on that, but he was at his ball-hogging, attack-squandering best against Parra last week. f**k me dead, the amount of times he ran at the line, dummied once and took the tackle when the Knights were in good field position made the already ordinary game even worse. He did it at least once or twice a set!

Personally I hope they pick any of Coote, Dugan or Hayne instead of Kidley.

Hayne has had one chance as NSW fullback and people are already calling for a change?

Give the guy a break. The whole team was attrocious and to single out his performance in that game is just ridiculous. We put up with Gidley at fullback for a while so its only fair that Hayne gets a reasonable chance to prove himself ( and i dont just mean game 2 and 3 this year, but basically next series too when we hopefully have a team that can actually challenge QLD).

Gidley reminds me of a good country racehorse ...goes very well against his own ,but when taken to town to face the better class ...is out of his depth..
Goes back to the country & is suddenly a world beater again......
Dumb trainer thinks ....he's going great ,we will take him to town again he is up to them horses...
same result...out of his depth....

Daley = dumb horse trainer.

Gidley's defensive game tonight > anything I've seen Hayne do defensively this year

Wow, defence, that's what NSW needs! Get him in there.

:roll:

Do NSW selectors or coaches understand that to win a game of football you need to attack and score points?
