St. George public. My old man has been in there. Nurses talk.

THey certainly do.

Definitely the public. His injuries and status are too acute for a transfer to the private. Once he is more stable it could be done but they don't really have the facilities for trauma rehab at the private.

The private ICU is not really an ICU like you find at the larger public hospitals. Vinnies, POW etc. More of an acute post surgical ward, post coronary or large abdominal surgeries. Same as vinies private.

Eight months since he was hit by a car riding his scooter home at Woolooware, television and radio personality Glenn Wheeler has made his first, tentative steps back into the spotlight, giving an emotional interview in which he discusses his traumatic ordeal for the first time.

While the sparkle in his eye has dimmed a little and his trade mark wit a little slower, there was no mistaking the voice when Wheeler filmed a special thank you video on Tuesday, which was screened at a media industry fundraiser at The Star on Wednesday night, where Wheeler's colleagues from the Seven Network and 2GB were joined by peers from the ABC, News Corp, Fairfax Media, 2UE, Channel Nine and Channel Ten.

Just saw a video on Twitter of Glenn singing Up Up Cronulla from his hospital bed.

Awesome work mate!

If that doesn't inspire the boys to victory, nothing will!

8 months in hospital, I was only 2 months in for something similar.. The man has climbed mountains, and still a few to go. All the best to him and the Wheelers, and good on him for sharing the passion.. Inspirational! Translation to the team for tonight - Carn the Sharks!

A WOMAN who was high on cannabis when her car crashed into popular television and radio personality Glenn Wheeler has been spared a full time jail sentence.

Deborah Anne Levy, 60, last year pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of drugs and negligent driving causing grievous bodily harm after striking the 2GB radio host in January last year.

Mr Wheeler was riding to work on his scooter when he was struck by Levy’s car on

Woolooware Rd. He has suffered ongoing health issues since the incident,

Police facts tendered to Sutherland Local Court state Wheeler was wearing an open-faced helmet and driving his newly purchased Piaggo “fly” motor scooter in a southerly direction on Woolooware Rd, Woolooware about 4pm.

Levy, travelling in the opposite direction “cut the corner in a racing line instead of a conventional turn” driving into the 55-year-old father of three.

Mr Wheeler, who also appeared on Channel 7’s The Morning Show, was flown to St George Hospital with life-threatening head and pelvic injuries, as a well as a severed artery in one leg.

Levy’s lawyer asked Magistrate Julie Huber not to impose a full-time custodial sentence, due to her need to treat an ongoing psychiatric condition.
Sutherland Local Court was also told Levy had been homeless at the time of the crash, and living in her van.

As Ms Huber fixed a seven month suspended jail sentence, she noted that Mr Wheeler “will suffer for the rest of his life” as a result of the crash.

“The consequences have been huge,” she said.

She said Levy’s actions “will impact Glenn and those around him, those who love and support him.”

Levy covered her head as she entered the court this morning to avoid waiting media.

should have been jailed the merkin.
what are the odds her psychiatric condition is directly linked and caused by her drug use, yet she can use it as an excuse to get off destroying someone's life.
