Merritt can kick so they say. Apparently he was slotting them from everywhere when we played Souths in Divvy this year.

I don't care who kicks, I just want them to actually get the ball between the posts!

A few games this season had the potential to finish a lot differently if we had been able to convert

Nobody wins a comp with a 2nd. rate goalkicker. A top notch goalkicker is a must. IMO Noddy is not good enough. Perhaps Merritt can raise the bar a bit. I hope so.
Purcell, Graham, Langlands, Simms, Killeen, Eadie, Cronin, Meninga, Johns, Fitzgibbon, etc, etc, etc. - a Who's Who of premiership winning goalkickers. Not many win it without a topnotcher.

i agree - this is a dead set hoax. Dont get me wrong the idea of Jarrod Anderson running around in circles for Manly will be great but a few games we lost in the past two years by two points or so hurt bad when its due to inept goal kicking.

Reported by Frenzy in another thread the one and only Darryl Halligan is our goalkicking coach this year so for sure we will have someone who can pot them after all he taught el magic how to kick :D :D

Melbourne have won with Geyer, and Brisbane I think with Lockyer. Both average kickers.

Well... Halligan was also our goalkicking coach for this season, and it didn't turn any of our boys into Hazem El Masris...

Actually both are great kickers. Thye just hate it.
There are few sweeter kickers of the ball than lockyer.

& Haligan is every clubs coach. Thats what he does. Fair skier too!

Yeah but it looks better to say Goalkicking Coach: Darryl Halligan.

Just on Lockyer. I read somewhere he kicked 2 goals this year(the same as Richard SWAIN). I think he kicked 1 goal the year before. He has kicked 226 goals (or something like that in his career). I dont think you can really say how good or bad Lockyer is as a kicker these days as he hasnt really kicked for 2 years. Might have misread the article but no doubt someone will correct me.

you can either kick or you can't.
Locky has the timing & ability to become one of the greatest. He just hates it.
He can kick the ball well, straight & far in any type of kick.

Pretty close Foz

2 from 2 in 2003

1 from 2 in 2002

16 from whatever in 2001

226 from 338 career at 67%

He would do a lot better if he liked it and was a regular I think.

Dont let facts get in the way of a good story. Dave Brown was a good kicker. Hows he kicking now?

Kimmorley at his best goalkicking actually is capable of being the Sharks' front-liner. You just have to look at the game against Newcastle in 2002 to see how good he can be. He kicked 10 from 11 that day, and in the semi against the Dragons he kicked another 6 from 7. If u take out those games, ud assume he could be an A grade kicker, but his inconsistancy let's the team down (0 from 5 in the roosters semi).

So all I'm sayin is have faith in Noddy. If he can get his act together, he'll come good. Al he needs is a little focus and concentration.
:?: (I've noticed he has a chuckle every time he missed an attempt) :?:
