goal kicking is going to cost the sharks games

If BK is our best goal kicker he should do it.
If BK is our best goal kicker our goal kicking talent is shite.
If BK is our best goal kicker, lets aim our attack up the middle.

We need another kicker, but where can we find him?

Bird is just as bad. He missed a couple of sitters from right in front last year as well. Merritt can kick, but he misses his fair share of them too.

4/6 is pretty standard in a game of footy.
4 from 6 = 66%
That strike will mean that the Sharks will probably miss out on the 8 & definitely lose a grand final

Kimmorley IS getting better. He IS starting to kick the ball OK.
No he's not. Nothing has changes since his first kick. He is not a natural kicker. Even his general play kicks are suspect.
Yoy know why his clearing kicks were always going dead? because he kicks the ball incorrectly. No draw what so ever.

And here I was thinking that his clearing kicks were going dead because he kicked the ball too hard....

And Reefy, is that why my drives always go long into the water when I'm playing golf? Cos I don't draw the ball? LOL

From this weeks Big League:
El Masri - 100%
Fitzgibbon 92%
De Vere - 90%
Schifcofske - 70%
Burt - 67%
Kimmorley - 63% (5 from 8)
Campbell - 55%
Johns - 50%

And the TEAM percentages:
Bulldogs - 100%
Storm - 100%
Roosters - 92%
Broncos - 90%
Cowboys - 80%
Raiders - 70%
Tigers - 67%
Sharks - 60%
Eels - 60%
Panthers - 55%
Knights - 50%
Warriors - 50%
Dragons - 50%
Manly - 40%

By the stats, Kimmorley is middle of the pack. Sure, he misses some, but not as many as 8 other kickers in the NRL. I feel that you guys, especially Reefy, won't be happy until we have a kicker like El Masri. Guys, they ain't that common!!

And if you think that anyone within the Sharks 1st grade squad is a 90% kicker, I dare say that they WOULD BE our 1st choice goalkicker. As for bringing someone in, El Masri won't leave the Dogs, Fitzgibbon is a Rooster for a while, De Vere just resigned with the Broncs, Hannay is a long-term Cowboy (I think). So who else is there?

I presume BK is our best 'cause he kicks.
Hence we need to score adjacent to the posts.

I think this goal kicking problem is a black mark against Raper . A new coach can come in and fix the glaring problems and he should have by now. This I think is the the reason we wont make the 8 . We just wont have a high enough goal king percentage to win those tight games.

Raper's not a goalkicking coach... and he wasn't here for recruitment. I don't doubt that kicking might hurt us, but it has nothing to do with Stuey.

I share the Bennett philosophy here, you pick your best thirteen, you pick you best GK.
GK will not cost us a semi-final birth, discipline might.
We are average in this department, but defence and attack rate 1 and 2.

Yeah, I completely agree. It's more important for us to get the discipline right. We did win 11 in a row with Kimmorley as kicker in 2002. In 2001 we had the very average Campbell and Ferris kicking during our entire winning streak that year, and they were no better than Kimmorley.

The team was recruited before Raper was signed as coach. He can only work with what he has

How bad was prestons miss? He's not thta much better than BK. You never knew whether it was going over or not.

We haven't had a decent kicker since Matty wasn't injured.

Prestos miss was hilarious.
Apparently he has a quad injury. Turned the kicking over to someone else as quick as he could.
I wish BK would follow that example.

Kimmorley shouldnt be our kicker, and yes, Richo, those 3 inches that he missed that goal by DO mean that he had a shocker. It was embarrassing!

I love the bloke and I know millers is his number 1 fan, we're not sticking the boot in, we just need change in the goal kicking department and we need it NOW

I love Noddy as well but he is no goal kicker he is a great No 7 tho. And its the coach who says who kicks the goals , make no mistake . Sure he picks the best 13 but in that 13 are some good kickers. So he says "Brett ur not kicking this week as we want give more experience to Bird ore Sully or ANYONEELSE" . Noddy being the great player he is says "thats great I can concentrate on captining the side and playing my game".End of story. I know some will say in here and in the papers " Noddy dumped!". But its no big deal. And think what might happen if Noddy is injured , Who kicks then? Someone with no experience of kicking in big games thats who. Come on Stu fix it up, so we can love u even more!

Good point CS.
If we have a better kicker I want to see them given the opportunity to kick.
And we will need a backup kicker, so they need to be getting some experience. What better opportunity than against Souths and Cowboys?

The Kimmorley ego argument really is a boring one, he isnt kicking them for glory

And the papers wouldnt raise an eyelid at a change of goalkicker

What really will cost us games is clocking off with 20minutes to go and schoolboy defending out wide.

I mean the Sharks get caught out clocking off too early they say we learn't from that. It won't happen again. Really?????

We lost the game against the Tiges when Senter burrowed through THREE defenders out wide.

We lost to the Dogs because TWO guys couldn't wrap up Anasta who managed to get the ball away for a try with 3mins to go.

BAD technique in DEFENCE & a LACK of FOCUS for the WHOLE 80mins is what will cost us games more often than not.
