Having lived in Melbourne - anyone who truly believes there is a long term market for rugby league, or any winter sport for that matter, is kidding themselves. It just wont happen.

This is what enrages me the most

It is pointless and we are all suffering because of it

And not just that, they really aren't even doing everything they can to make them a success, so what is the point

Plus the fact they have more hateful blokes at their club than any other

i wont go as far as a rope

but what doesn't kill me will make me tougher

And if saints were to play em in the GF and beat them (throw in a career ending injury to Slater)

Id be happy enough to die anyway!

Applaud them yet again. What they're doing as a club is sensational on and off the field.

For what it's worth, I think they will return to the Grand Final and WIN back-to-back premierships.

and yet 1999 is still a sense of endless mirth for the rest of us

it's a funny f**king world innit?

I hardly call Victorian youth teams making finals and beating NSW teams along the way a pointless waste of time.

The game there is growing and carving out a nice little niche.

Sure it's not going to challenge AFL - but it doesnt have to. It just needs to be good enough for people to open their eyes to alternatives.

I have been a semi regular visitor to Melbourne over the past 15 years and on my last 2 visits I saw Storm jerseys being worn, Storm bumper stickers on cars and evidence round town that the Storm ARE having an impact down there. It's taken league a really long time to get a foothold in that market, but it is happening.

It's not pointless and I certainly dont feel like I'm suffering at all.

The main losers from a Melbourne team being in the comp is NSW when it comes to Origin. With Queensland players offered another option aside from the Broncos, it meant that Queenslands first grade playing roster to choose from became suddenly larger.

Level playing fields are only a bitch if you're used to being top dog and want to retain the Status Quo. As a Dragons fan, I can see why you'd want things to remain as they were 40 years ago.

Oh well, times change.

yeah level playing fields sure are a bitch especially when one team gets a free $6mil top up each year from their sugar daddy and make it to 4 straight grand finals;-)

id like a level playing field, but i and many others dont think its happening

never know of them game 40yrs ago i wasn't even thought of

and if you think clubs would fail to pick up the Inglis' and Falau's and other qld origin hopefull gee ur dim

and your right perhaps have the team in QLD instead, im sure they would have all been spotted then.

Love Rep games going there also

how great is that!

If any other club in the nation had as much success as the storm since 1999 on field then take a look at the success off the field i think it would seem pretty insigificant

What a sob story...your hatred for the Storm is well known though so your comments are taken with a grain of salt.;-)

Umm they have bigger crowed averages than alot of the Sydney teams, more members then most Sydney teams and during the finals had more viewers on TV then Brisbane, and i think it will improve with the stadium development, so i can see them lasting longer then some of the Sydney teams.

The Storm are the most boring team in the NRL. They come from the AFL capital of the world :)lol:), their team is made up entirely of ex-pats and their style of play is boring, defence-oriented wrestling, laced with a bit of Smith/ Slater grubbery. Occasionally (very occasionally) there is a flash of entertaining play from Billy the Cat or Big Game, but other than that, they are a yawn.

Would love to see a different side in the GF this year. The 00's was the decade that everybody (bar their fans) got sick of seeing either Easts or Melbourne in the decider.

Are your eyes painted on?
Watch the 2009 GF again. Check out the decoys, attacks on the fringe and Inglis's sublime display.
