Gold Coast Dolphins: New fans to jump ship?

Here is a question being posed to myself regulary of late...IF the Gold Coast Dolphins get the green light to join the NRL competition, are you going to join them leaving your current NRL club?

A very easy question to answer for most...simply NO is the answer.

Though being from the Gold Coast where my parents still reside living in the heart of the sunshine coast, it is a question I ponder more often than not admittedly given I am their every 6-8 weeks and the Gold Coast team where my 2nd team given that was were I was from.

Being a Bronco fan since their inception attending their first ever home game in 1988 as an 8 y.o., surely not is what the heart is saying...

I know it is more a question for QLD'ers perhaps, though some answers should be interesting. 3 of my close mates are Gold Coast Giants fans originally who then became Seagull fans then last of all Chargers fans...being converted Broncos, they are chomping at the bit for this to go through. Anyway, I know there are some with reference to the Gold Coast team in their sigs or what have you, I thought is may be a question some are also pondering.

Cheers

My advice would be to goto games involving both teams.

See after a few games which team gives you the most joy after a win.

Which creates the most sorrow after a loss. It may take a while, but I think you'll work out quickly enough which team you want to support.

And hey, if they do get admitted, you'll have a second team to follow which ever way things work out.

(I know this isn't exactly answering your question, but hey it's free advice take it or leave it ;-) )

It's safe to say, I will not leave the Brisbane Broncos club and yes, there would be an invested interest there. The question does get asked though admittedly.

I, like Sir Clifford GC would have their home ground at my doorstep as well every 6-8 weeks.

Personally, I want another team in QLD, IMO it is the right move for the best interest of Rugby League. Let's hope the BS is dealt with and the NRL pull the trigger and get the ball rolling...perhaps take a leaf out of the ARU's book and make the tough call ala the new Perth franchise.

If they're admitted and make a real go of it, I think they'll win over a huge following amongst GC people and will be the second team for everyone else there.

I'm an NQ boy and that will never change but I'd welcome another Qld side in the NRL and believe they should be the first chosen from the three competing.

For every person who loves the Broncos in QLD their is another who hates them just as much. I think the Gold Coast will have a huge following from people who support them as either their first or as a second team. One of my mates doesn't have a team but every weekend he supports who ever is playing against the Broncos. I for one can't wait to head back to cararra for a few games each year but they could never take more of my interest than the Wests Tigers.

One of the up sides of having the GC accepted would mean that supporters of teams other than the broncos will get to see their team twice a year rather than just once.

That is one reason the Broncos get good crowds. There is always a good presence from visiting teams because their supporters only get to see them live once a year.

A true league fan will never abandon their team for another....even if their team was Souths.

What the GC Dolphins will provide for fans of the game in this part of QLD (judging from comments I got when I was up there holidaying last week) is a team they can really get behind and call their own. They are sick of having the Broncos rammed down their throats. And I was suprised at the number of Roosters fans up there. Not suprised that i didnt see one Dogs jersey though.

Looking at the name and the image projected by the club, they'll be investing heavily in converting the children, whose parents are entrenched in support of their NRL/ARL club.

What if their team is satan spawn, lead Rugby League into a civil war and have done more damage than good in QLD for Rugby League?

I want a club not a company.

Bring on the Dolphins...

Yes at some point you have to realise you are being taken for a ride.

I think someone steals your login information from time to time, one minute the Broncos are good, the next their satan.

As for the GC team, I will always follow the Broncos, but will take a keen interest in the Coast side.

Nah he is the sort of supporter who whinges all the time.

But come the time they win the premiership he would be first in the queue to welcome the team back.

Sorry if I have principles that the Broncos have shat all over.

Sorry you can't buy my loyalty.

You are just a bunch of light weight Bronco groupies. The Broncos can never do anything wrong and you would buy any garbage the Broncos try to sell.

Think for yourself for a change. FFS.

It happened to me when the Knights came into the competition. But I just couldn't turn my back on the Bulldogs. Though the knights give me a second team to cheer during september.

If you don't like the Broncos principles etc, I would suggest you follow another team that have principles you like.

Maybe a under 6 team haven't been corupted yet. :?

Sorry if I was against...

- The changing of the logo to a rip off of an NFL team

- Them changing the colours and adding blue.

- Them changing to a gay glorified T shirt of a jersey with no collar.

- Them starting Super League and their countless incidences of them whinging about ficticious conspiracies.

- Them being against a 2nd team in Brisbane and SEQLD. And demanding a SEQLD exclusivity contract.

- Them marketing themselves as the Ergon Energy Broncos. They are Brisbane Broncos.

- The neo nazi admistration of Lang Park, that doesnt allow mexican waves or flags bigger than the ones from the merchandise store.

- The move from Lang Park to ANZ.

- Most of their fans being mindless lemmings.

- Them putting themselves before the health of Rugby League. They are a company not a club and only care about their bottom lin.

- Their innept attempts to beat the Lions in every department, especially promotion.

It is endless. It is about time Southern Queenslanders were given another choice. Rugby League is being stagnated and poisoned with the Broncos being the sole flag waver.

Why do I like the Broncos? I was their #1 fan until 1999, which I realised they were satan.

I am a fan of the players and Wayne Bennett.

I agree somewhat with Diehard here. Being a Queenslander, I switched to the Broncos when they started. when the arrogance really started to get bad after their premierships in 92&93, I reverted back to supporting the game in general more and more. Then the Cowboys started up and now I have a PASSION for life and a passion for LIFE.

I still support the Broncos as a QLD team but I like to think I can see through their marketing bullshit and their agendas. That exclusivity clause was good businees for them at the time but bad for the game and their selfishness lost me for good.
