Not bad, although I'd drop the plural and throw in a Halo reference. This might resemble the logo:

I don't think anyone went to work today.

I know at least 5 people who are kicking up their heals watching tele at home at the moment.

Even I called in and said no way but it didn't matter because the place I was going to ended up being flooded anyway.

Weird bloody country we live in.

Is Queensland the Texas of Australia? It is a well known saying that "if you don't like the weathe in Texas, wait a day or two, and it'll change." Is Queensland/Gold Coast like that?

Nah the weather in Queensland is always great.

We call Melbourne the city of four seasons because you can get four seasons worth of weather out of one day.

Yea they reckon it is a once in a thousand years event! Much like North Sydney winning a premiership.

Were getting some pretty servere flooding just down the freeway.

Ballina would have to be the wettest town in Australia.

We had a drought for over a year so I wouldnt call it inconsistent weather.

Funny thing is a few months ago we had water restrictions - the grass was dry and the ground hard... looked like it was dying. Now there's water everywhere and the grass is green and gone squishy underfoot.

Freak weather really, been raining for about a week. Wednesday night was the worst. I was up all night with a yard broom downstairs, sweeping ankle deep water out through the back door. We had a creek running through. lol

Had several power failures. At one point, the lights started flashing and a few appliances were shorting out and making squealing noises. All the time it's thunder and lightning outside... like a scene from Poltergeist. lol I was impressed but made a point of unplugging everything.
The next day, one of my kids told me they woke up briefly and heard the noises and someone swearing in the distance. LOL.

And we're on a hill. On the news, the list of worst hits areas included two streets in my suburb. One of them down the hill from us, the other was one street away.

Its a mess here but others are worse off.
