Very surprising...but don't really care. I know some people on here rated him pretty highly...meh? Good sometimes, dumb other times.

He had his moments, it's not the biggest loss, but I guess this means JWH is going to be a prop, not a backrower.

its a shame imo.. obviously we all hated the penalties, but he was so consistent in bending and penetrating the line

He was definately the best forward in our pack in 2011 and I'm sorry to see him go.

I know the club wants to sign other players - but surely to shitness we'd worked out what we'd spent.

We've let Carney, Ryles, Myles, Linnett and Graham go and we've signed Tunguvai

Does anyone else get the feeling we're about to announce a dumb as f**k annoying huge money signing for 2012?

Ryles was performing really well at the back end of 2011, but yes I do believe it was time for him to go. We've got the numbers to replace him, younger and more mobile forwards.

Sonny Bill is the most talented forward ive ever seen.

I can only assume that by off-loading Ryles and opening up more cap space for next year that we have him lined up. I sure hope so.

Good bye Ryles, hello Morts.

Roosters secure Daniel Mortimer for 2 years
Written by: Sydney Roosters media

The Sydney Roosters have secured the services of Daniel Mortimer for the 2012 and 2013 seasons.

Mortimer, 22, will join the Roosters from the Parramatta Eels who have granted him a release.

Sydney Roosters recruitment manager Peter O'Sullivan believes Mortimer will be a valuable asset to the club.

"Daniel suits the Roosters style of play and with his ability to play five eighth or halfback, we see him playing a key utility role, adding great depth to our halves alongside the likes of Braith Anasta and Mitchell Pearce.

"Daniel is widely regarded as a quality person on and off the footy field and we are looking forward to watching him develop as part of our team over the coming seasons."

A Dally M Rookie of the Year finalist in 2009, Mortimer's recruitment is in line with the Roosters policy of signing young players with whom the team can grow.

Mortimer will officially join the Roosters when the squad begins pre-season training next month.

Smithy tried for years to sign Ryles from Dragons, saying he was the type of player he could build a club around. I'm confused as to why he'd offload Ryles now? I guess age comes into it, but I know he rates Ryles highly... Strange.

Yeah, what happened?

Is Smith offering up a sacrificial lamb? Maybe that's why he hired JT, he is a veritable shit magnet.
