Follow this link and check out the first 2 entries on the thread about Jarrod Sammut.

Someone made the following statement......

"Reported on Ten news, Wade Mckinnon is out for the season so the Warriors have said they want Jarrod Sammut for the 2008 season if the Panthers release him from his contract. I wouldn't think there would be much truth to it but I wonder how the rumour came about."

This naturally had me worried instantly, but then I was fine once I read the very next post by Rob Weaver.......

Jarrod is currently contracted to us until the end of this season and there is no way he would be released - that from Mick Leary after I saw the report.

In fact we are in negotiations to extend his contract.

That is fantastic to hear, and I for one, will be keeping everything crossed and praying to the footy god that Sammut re-signs very soon and stays with Penrith for a long time to come.

We have an enviable problem at Penrith, particularly with the hooker and full back positions:

1. Wesser, Sammut, Coote, Gordon, Zoran Watene
9. Priddis, Aiton, Iosefa, Peters

he is a very good and exciting prospect that you have. would be very, very stupid to let him go

Agreed - we have a great crop of youngsters coming through - Jennings, Daniela, Sammut, Grant, Iosefa... if we keep all of them, a team can be built around that.

I went to the game last night. Sammutt was the Panthers best. Rooney made the most of his opportunities.
Think Sammutt will be your starting 7. Trent Waterhouse had a strong match, particularly in the first quarter....

My concern reading the match reports is that we seem to have suffered the sort of drop off that cost us so dearly so many times last year. Though at this time of year who knows if it's a fitness thing or perhaps something more serious.

Oh I don't know Kil "I love my IQ" Kenny! It would create a further mess, than he already was in. I would suggest two hands, ten fingers.

Panthers management have really improved over the last 2 years.

Obviously Sammut and Waterhouse are happy enough with the way things are being run.

I think the fact the club has upgraded his existing contract for this coming season is the most important aspect. Sammut has earnt the right to go full time, with the financial benefits that go with it. It would be interesting to know the terms of the deal just for curiosity's value.
