Goodbye champ (or maybe not)

Tonight's game against Brisbane could see the Knights lose and drop out of the top four over the next few games, which would see Billy Peden leave Marathon as a loser as this would be his last game at the ground.

To all those who think that might happen all I can say is -PIGS ARSE - I'll run out onto the ground myself to see that doesn't happen.

If there is one thing that should happen in this world it is for Billy Peden to leave Marathon a winner. I will be ashamed of the team if they don't make that happen.

Harrigan is the ref, and I'm sure I can take him. I do have a similar build to that South African guy too.

I don't think the guys will need my 'help' though.

Billy Peden fully deserves to go out as a winner though, while it wont be easy id say the knights will be successful tonight.

If you do run on to the ground,do it in the bol and paint a Vodafone logo on,that way at least your expenses will be covered.

OK, watch out for me at the game - I will be the one with the in the bollocky with thebig beer belly and the vodafone logo chasing Harrigan - but if I don't catch him in twenty yards I'll pretty well be stuffed.

(BTW, if anyone is taking this seriously - I'm just joking - there's no way I'd wear a vodafone logo).

To bring this thread back to a slightly serious note - typically, Billy had a great game for the club by filling in at the unfamiliar position of hooker, and doing it beautifully.

Billy was asked toenter negotiations for a contract earlier thisseason and declined to do so for the good of the club. As he said, the club is better off spending money on retaining the young guys coming through. He plans to play a few seasons in England instead.

I think Billy played his best football in 2000 and has been on a steady decline ever since but the style and character of the guy is something that no money can buy. I thinkthe Knights won't really know how big of an impact Billy really had on the team till he is gone.

I hope some position can be found for him at the club in a few years. He would be a great mentor and role model for young players, as he is now.

"Generally Billy Harrigan has great games for the Knights don't you think Roopy? :p"

I've always thought the reason Harrigan is so popular with the powers that be is that he does his level best to see that the favourites win whatever game he is reffing. This season the Knights have been favourites in a lot of games Bill has reffed, so we have been on the good side of his decisions. In last years grandfinal we were not the favourites, and Billy did his absolute best to get Parras back into the game. I have a full head of grey hair now. i don't think I did before that game. I'll never forget that, and the few hundred other games over the years when he blew us off the park to get the favourites home (mostly Brisbane).

I don't like him, not at all, even if I can't complain about how he has treated us this year.
