Gould at His Best

Yesterdays great game between the Chooks and Dogs was absolutely spoilt on Nine by Goulds one eyed slant on the game.

I support neither team and I dont even mind Gould as a commentator, but yesterday he didnt let up from the opening minute with his one eyed Chook slant. The dogs got very little credit for their efforts in such a good game that could have easily gone the other way. The dogs had their share of 50/50 calls go against them but we didnt hear boo on the other hand their was a verbal blast every time the Chooks didnt get the call

Its time the people at nine tell him to pull his head in and be a little more balanced when calling Chook games.

Haven't watched it but I heard about his 32fps comments on the Noddy/Anasta no-try incident. Facts are facts and the try was correctly denied. He needs to calm down a bit and not act like the sky is falling. Otherwise, he's a great analyst of the game.

What 50/50 calls went against the dogs exactly? The calls that went against the chooks weren’t even 50/50’s, they were plain awful and wrong decisions.

If you actually listened to Gould, the whole first half he was saying the dogs looked the better and were outplaying the roosters…. How is that bias?

I'd be interested as to which calls these were. I could only see one demonstrably bad decision that would've cost the Roosters points - the "forward pass" that was flat, if not backwards. Whinging Roosters fans (despite winning) seem to be complaining about a "long list" of decisions when it was one or two that could be argued over. The Anasta-Kimmorley no-try, as I have said elsewhere, is not one of those.

i can't stand gus myself, but i'm struggling to understand where people think there was bias yesterday. it was pretty obvious any neutral watching the game had a right to blow up at the refereeing efforts.

the roosters winning isn't a great result for my team, but after the sh*t they copped all game had me cheering for them by the end.

Gould was praising the Bulldogs in the first half. He just jumped on the Roosters bandwagon on the second when they were getting screwed with the calls.

He said numerous times throughout the first half that the Dogs looked better and openly criticized the Roosters.

This

I normally don't mind Gould, but the doggie love he was sprouting yesterday made me sick. He had nothing good to say about the Roosters at all.

Don't know what game the OP was watching.

The even bigger embarrassment was the knitting/doily crap going on between him and rabs. Deadset lost the plot these two, someones needs to tap them on the shoulder....

Sterlo tried to get it back on track but they kept going for it, WTF!

Look I think it's fair to say that whether the chooks got @rser@ped by the refs yesterday or not Gould is ruining our enjoyment of league broadcasts.
I think we, as a group, should pen an open letter to Nein to take this dribbler off the air or at least warn us before hand which games he will commentate on so we can tune in to watch tour de france highlights instead.

i was going for the dogs as its better for the tigers, however gould was justified in everything he said. some of the decisions were beyond disgraceful.

the nrl looked to have picked out their fairytale team 2010...

What about the blatant forward pass by Ennis in the lead up to the Hodgson try?

3 decisions stand out

- The Anasta “forward pass” that you admit was not forward
- Not exactly sure which try it was but in the lead up Ennis passed it a metre forward from dummy half and everyone with a pair of eyes could see that
- The Anasta/Kimmorley no try – IMO the ball was never separated from his hand so how can a knock on be called? Additionally a no try decision is made when it is a DEFINATE no try, this was 50/50 at best and as far as I knew benefit of the doubt goes to the attack. How many times have we seen tries where the attacker has got a fingernail on the ball constituting a “put down”….

I know we still won the game so some people think we have no right to whinge. But tbh it think this is the best time for a coach/team to whinge because no one can accuse them of whinging just because they lost and maybe next time those clearly wrong decisions will cost us or another team the game… maybe a finals game.

His token "dogs are on top" comments do not validate the the rest of the game where he proceeded to slurp Rooster dong like a $2 crack whore.

Anasta's try was correct. if Kimmorley wasn't there for the ball to hit then Anasta would have lost the ball well forward. Ennis got away with a forward pass but so did the Roosters towards the end of the game which lead to a repeat set of 6 and a try iirc. The rest of the decisions were valid. How dare Roosters forward passes get called as such? Don't they know who the Roosters are?

You people need to watch the game without the commentary. You might enjoy it a bit more and also you won't have the know it all's telling you what to think.

His hand was never separated form the ball and that is the criteria for possession these days. How do you know that he would of knocked it on, maybe he might have tapped it up to himself… you don’t know.

Are you seriously suggesting that the pass ruled forward against Anasta was indeed forward? It was a metre backwards and the ball was caught behind where it was thrown from.

The one from Carney to Anasta in the 1st half was clearly forward and I don’t think anyone is disputing that.

If you thought Gould was bad you should have heard the Grandstand crew go off.

Gould gives a brutal salad tossing to the Dogs whenever he commentates them. I have no idea how anyone could think any different.

He never misses an opportunity to tear the Roosters a new arse whenever he can.

As for some of those pathetic decisions yesterday. It's lucky the Roosters got up or there would of been Latte related deaths on the streets of Sydney.
