I love Voss because you can tell how much he is genuinely enjoying each game and that energy of genuine excitement comes across in his commentary.
Absolutely.
Commentary is good for 3 things.
1. It corroborates what the viewer sees on field.
2. It creates an internal dialogue about evaluating what has happened and where the match is heading.
3. It creates atmosphere. It adds to the contest.
The cardinal sins of Rabs and his ilk:
1. Not calling the on field action for extended periods. Vital incidents go unnoticed and are not remarked on.
2. Puerile, drawn out tiffs about a ruling between Gus and Rabs.
3. In-house jokes about someone's ass, owning lama's etc. The commentary becomes the focus not the game.
