Just because the occasion shows all the highlights of the usual sharks function flair doesn't mean I'm going to not go and support the club. Oneday they will surprise every attendee and put on a decent, professional, entertainment afternoon. Will it be tomorrow ? I doubt it , but like I said im looking forward to going along with some colleagues who make it an annual event together .
The main problem is that the club, as usual sees it as a money making excercise. The popularity of the luncheon a decade ago when it WAS a quality afternoon has been it's biggest downfall, the club has just tried to sell as many tickets as possible and cram as many people into the auditorium as possible in order to make as much profit as they can from it.
They use every trick in the book ..................
1/ Cram em in ! cram as many tables and seats onto each table as possible, if they can't stand up, that's great !
2/ As the ticket cost is all inclusive ie food and jug beer and wine, make sure the bastards get as little to drink as possible, the cramming of the tables will assist in this smokescreen as we can make it look like waiters can't get around easily, give each waiter 5 tables of 12 to look after too so that they ARE too busy to get the drinks out, this will save us sh*tloads !
3/ put one waiter for every 5 tables of 12 on to staff the day, that'll save us sh*tloads too !
4/ Cater it like it was paid for by scrooge pty ltd, one small piece of beef or chicken, a spoonful of vegies and that'll do em.
bingo ! profit profit time !
I'd rather pay double the price and have a reasonably well organised function.
Sorry to say Beeker - when i booked my table i got chatting as the girl i did it through i use to go to school with.
It is all donated, drink, etc - so i cant see how a profit can be derived by the club???
