I wonder if someone could chase up the ABC rating figures of Sydney Rugby Union Grade Grand Final for Woods 99. I'm sure they would be few hundred up on last year,

Can't help you there but the crowd at the Sydney RU GF was 9412. Down from about 12,000 last year.

Those are great Melbourne figures.

I think that people are underestimating the effect that Foxtel has had on Melbourne. As its coverage grows, rugby league will grow in the non traditional states. You would also assume that the sports lover (those most likely to be neutral or able to be swayed) would general buy foxtel in large numbers. Rugby league has been available en masse to Victorians through this service and the game must be slowly developing interest down there.

It's rediculous that the NRL GF isn't shown simultaneously accross the nation.

Broadcasting rights have been sh*t since News Ltd took over.

Valid point. I've got foxtel purely for the coverage of League and Union... I'd imagine many AFL fans would be in a similar boat.

Well, across the 3 capitals both were actually SHOWN in, it's 2.56m vs 2.47m, simply because the Swans were involved. But League will win the regionals by a huge margin.

They never do because it's a different company that does the ratings.

News Ltd has nothing to do the broadcasting of the FTA Rugby League. You need to take that up the ARL’s old friend, Channel 9,

I can't believe more people in Adelaide watched the Grand Final than in Perth!

I'd believe it. The Rams used to average 10k with a boring team...much better support than the Reds had (seems like another lifetime now).
