Well done guys on a hard fought match. I have to admit I was one of many who thought the Knights would blitz you guys but u proved me wrong and put on a show, a huge show! I have no doubt you guys will smash the Dragons next week. Once again good game and look forward till we meet again.

Yea Yea Whatever.....

Storm had more than enough Chances to win but failed to take it. #-o

Both flanks defence was woeful. #-o

To many Stupid mistakes. #-o

And that is just the Storm. (well the bad parts anywway ;-) :) )

Both teams will do well to pass this off as an early season warn up and Aim to improve dramatically.

Just got back from the game, wasn't it a heart stopper. It was worth the trip just to give Johns so much shit. He had a shocker with the boot! I loved my first trip to Olympic Park and have fallen in love with the Melbourne Storm, but more about that in a future thread.

Newcastle were hot last week, Melbourne are just warming up.... Bring on St George!!!

U cant make ne excuses, fact is that Newcastle were the better team on he day and you have to give them credit. Storm had enough chances to win but they werent good enough to capitalise were a Newcastle were and that was the difference.

Johnsy eh? He needed to be binned.

Great effort though from our boys. I though they'd be pretty rusty but they came on pretty good. The forwards I thought more than handled the bigger Knights boys. All seemed to puff out a little halfway through the 2nd half. But you get that with a bye in the first round. Thanks NRL!

Scott Hill was great. Best player on ground during the 1st half. Surely will be NSW's 5/8?

Howe looked like he'd never played in his life. What happended? Everyone has been saying how fit he was? He let Budereus go straight passed him which resulted in a try. He looked stuffed after 10 mins!

10,000 crowd? I though 11,500. Maybe even 12,000. Pathetic though. Time to do a Panthers and give away 2-3000 free tickets to school kids IF accompanied by an adult. Otherwise we WILL be relocating.

What a crock. If that is the way both teams are going to play during the year both come close to the last game of the year.

We coughed it up yes. but please if the knights were half a team today they should have beaten us by 20.

It was rare for us to go to the left hand side and when we did it did well.

At one stage King was by himself (2nd half) on the left side for 4 minutes. A great opportunity that went begging.

And we wont go near the amount of times the knights players questioned the ref (which was close to AFL standard #-o )

An opportunity that went begging for Storm today, but having said that, I would be more worried as a knights supporter after todays game.

We were beaten by a team that took their chances today, simple as that. I would say two players beat us... Andrew Johns, excluding his goalkicking, I thought he was great, and MOALA. He is a turnstile, and lets not get me started on his bloody dropped ball... dive over you wanker!!
Got rid of some rust though today. Scott Hill was fantastic in his return, and I thought Alex Chan was great. Could turn out to be a great buy. Bring on St George

If it were any other team but the knights, the storm would have won by 30.. You guys had so many chances to score tries but our defence was too good..

Tahus second try was a try, he got a finger on the ball which is downward pressure as the ball was on the ground and therefore cant be a knock on..

Tahus other try should have been a try as the pass from gidley was hardley forward..

Johns 4/8 in goal kicking..

To put it bluntly - you could tell who had had a run against the premiers the week before and who sat on their arses watching telly.

We ran out of petrol tickets and McFadden should have played.

Simple as that.

The match was attrocious. Defence out wide for Melbourne was dreadful. Johns was kicking like he'd miss a conversion from in front, forward passes were let go and non forward passes were blown up (both teams were unfairly denied tries for forward passes) Newcastle had a try allowed that was total BS and one disallowed that they probably should have gotten the benefit of the doubt on.

The referee should be sacked for incompetance (no, not saying they cost us the game). Moala should be reprimanded for his woeful attempt to score a try after half time and our defensive coach should be warned to teach them to defend out wide. meanwhile, Joey needs to go back and learn how to kick.

I think that there are 32 players (and 4 officials) out there today who will be lucky to hold onto their spots for next week. The only exceptions are Matt Geyer, who doesn't have to worry as he already knows he's out with injury, and Kirk Reynoldson.

Melbourne did not deserve to win, but neither did Newcastle.

Display from Newcastle players such as johns and Buderus was disgraceful. His, Hayne had an absolute shocker, but for them to be as disrespectful as they were, regardless of who was right and wrong, they deserved to be binned.

Moala had a shocker, but johns was just as bad. He didn't really do that much for the attack. Kurt Gidley was probably the Knights best attacking weapon today.

how much do you reckon they payed mick lewis????

They had to pay him overtime today with Hayne's inability to make a decision. Even then he seemed to allow an unfair try and disallow a fair try both to the Knights.

I didn't think Storm's preformance was THAT bad! I though it was a great all round effort from everyone. Apart from a defensive lapse in the 2nd half. But it IS Newcastle and it IS Andrew Johns. Geez!

I mean, they could've won. Almost did. And remember. It's Storm's first real hit-out of the year. It's only Rd 2!

I'm hoping that's all it comes down, just hiccups in their first hitout of the year. andrew johns was not even that good. The majority of their decent attack came from Kurt Gidley, and apart from a 40-20, joey's kicking game kept us in the match as it meant some rather useless ends to some of their sets of 6.

Johns was ordinary in the 1st half. But in the 2nd, he ripped us apart. Cut-out passes, little grubbers and his direction changed the game.

I still dont think the Storm were that bad. They wern't on fire of course. But everyone played their part even if they wernt at 100%.

Next week will be different. Trust me!

And how bad are the cheerleaders new uniforms! A fair bit more booby though. Just seem really tacky looking things.

......

Yea I'll give you that......

There is no point being to hard on the storms attack as the defence the Knights put up was first class.

We had penalty after penalty in the first half yet never took advantage of it. Points were to be made.

It's all over. Whats the point. Roll on next week!
