I know this will still draw a hard-on from Wittyfan,

Michael Witt from the sideline against Cronulla last year at Shark park, into the driving rain and he bent the ball the opposite way and between the posts.

El Masri in the gale force winds against the sharks.

El Magic against the Knights.

Was just about to post that one. Similar to the Dan Carter video that someone posted but better

I know this is going back a long way but I thought this was pretty interesting.

Messenger captained Australia in the first two tests of the tour, missing the third through injury. On tour Messenger was credited with numerous goals from the other side of half way, including one from the sideline on his own 25-yard line that appeared in earlier versions of the ‘Guinness Book Of World Records’ as measuring over 80 yards (73m). Another from over 75 yards is mentioned in an English newspaper under the heading ‘A Wonderful Kick’, "

Much closer to 50, in fact if you count the angle of elevation it may even be up towards 60, into a gailforce wind I should mention too.

A lesser man would of missed.
Trouble is, there is no such thing as a lesser man when compared to Luke Covell.

A good player would have won the game with his sideline conversion. ;-)

Not a great conversion but more a great miss.

Rod Wishart playing for the Steelers against North Sydney (I think?) who missed from right in front after fulltime to tie the match. Shocking miss.

I dont know who the kicker was (maybe Rodwell or Riolo or Wishart??) but back in 92 the Illawarra Steelers had a conversion ruled "in" in a Friday night football game against the Broncos and it missed by about 10 metres the
the Steelers won the game by 2 points.

Probably the worst touch judge decision of all time

At XXXX the last game of the season .Souths came from behind again. in Wet conditions, Clive churchill "with a broken arm" kicked the conversion from the sideline to give Souths the lead in the last minutes. In those days there were NO replacements.

The story of what Souths achieved in the season of 1955 is among the most famous in Australian sport. “The miracle of ‘55” was an epic fight in which the Rabbitohs won 11 virtual sudden-death matches in a row to steal the premiership. After the first match of the second round they had been equal second last on the ladder. In their incredible run home they came from behind in no less than five matches to win and earn themselves fourth spot and a place in the semi-finals. XXXX They beat Manly 14-12 in a desperate semi-final. They were down 14-11 in the final against St George in the dying minutes – a try by Ian Muir and a pressure kicked goal by Bernie Purcell got them home again. The grand final against Newtown was a fitting finale after such a season. Newtown led 11-7 with six minutes to go. But the never-say-die Souths scrambled a try (Col Donohoe) and converted it through Purcell to complete the fairytale.

Last night the rugby league world saw somthing special. Those things which rarely happen, maybe you will see them a handfull of times in your life. There a certain player stood, the capacity crowd at his mercy, this kick standing between victory and defeat. Golden point, 50 metres out into a gailforce wind - a lesser man would of missed it.

So it begs the question as we think back and look at all the great conversions, what is the greatest conversion of all time?

the Covell World Order (CWO) is as ridiculous as the Fitzy World Order (FWO).

CWO is trying to persuade people that the goal was one of the best of all time and that it was 50 meters after the angle even though it was right in front, 60 meters after elavation and in gale force winds lol

and the FWO trys to convice people that Fitzhenry is good enough for origin lol. not only that, they go around the country and stick stickers everywhere. I couldn't even go to the dunny in melbourne without seeing a bloody FWO sticker on the back of the door.

I remember Laurie Daley had one of these that was ruled in that blatantly missed in 1994 ish. It didn't affect the outcome in any way, but did affect the TAB's points start, which left a lot of angry gamblers!
