Hey guys and gals,

long offseason, so here's another one of those offseason threads.

Who do you think is the best ever player in each position?

Fullback - Anthony Minichiello. Maybe biased, but i haven't seen anyone match what he did pre-injury
Wing - Ken Irvine - his try scoring record is legendary
Centre - Reg Gasnier. So immense i can't even select DallyM or Dave Brown ahead of him
Five-eighth - Brad Fittler - should be an immortal
Halfback - Andrew Johns. Many people rate him as the greatest leagueie of all time
Prop - Arthur Beetson. Without peer, and a superb captain
Hooker - Ben Elias. So clever the way he got Fenech sent off. And can't select salary cap cheat Smith
Second Row - Ron Coote. So many premierships. Much class. Wow
Lock - Norm Provan. Cornerstone of the great Dragons side of the 50s/60s

don't be afraid of picking Kenny ahead of Wally. Brett Kenny owned him in their confrontations in SOO

I started watching in 89 so will go from there. I don't feel my knowledge of the game before then qualifies me to rate players before that time.

Fullback - Lockyer
Wing - Nightingale
Centre - Inglis
Five Eigtht - Fittler
Halfback - Langer
Prop - Webcke
Hooker - Cam Smith
Second Row - Tallis
Lock - Clyde

I can only go from players in the 90s until now

Fullback- Inglis (just beats lockyer, brasher and mini)
Wing- Sing (just ahead of wishart and be morris)
Centre- Inglis
5-8th- Fittler (just beats lockyer)
Halfback- Johns
Prop- Chief
Hooker- Smith (annoyingly)
2nd Row- Menzies
Lock- Fittler (i loved when he played lock, gave him the freedom to just float and play with freedom. If i had to pick a traditional hard working lock I'd pick clyde)

Fullback? Lockyer? No. Slater by a fair margin.
Wing - Flo is an interesting choice, he's reliable and a huge fan favourite. Deserved recognition but best winger?

Fittler was a very good 5/8 but so was Daley. Hard to split the two. I will also mention that having watched Anthony Mundine I will say that had he finished in rugby league he would have been the best 5/8 of the modern era.

Prop. Webke...Brisbane theme going on. No from me, Lazarus

Halfback - langer? Did you watch games that weren't Brisbane? Sterling? Adrian Lam? Terry lamb? Stuart?

Hooker - Cam smith easily.

Lock - didn't see much of Clyde to be honest and from all accounts he was one of the hardest locks going around. My pick would be Steve menzies. He was so fluent, he was the complete back rower.

Will be a contentious thread.

Inglis? Best fullback you've seen since the 90's. If you say so! Can't agree on that one.

Wing - Matt sing is a great choice!

Watching since mid 90s

Fullback - Slater (over Lockyer)
Wing - B.Morris (just edges out Sailor)
Centre - Reg Gasnier; only seen videos and heard things from those lucky enough to watch him or play alongside him, but by all accounts hes head and shoulder above anyone. From those that I've seen, Lyon (over Cooper and Inglis).
5/8 - Lockyer (over Fittler)
Halfback - Johns (over Thurston, which hurts to say)
Hooker - Smith (although I think Friend will come close by careers end)
Prop - Lazurus (over Webke)
Second row - Tallis (over Fletcher)
Lock - Menzies (over everyone)
