Danny Green has been offered a November 22 rematch with WBC super-middleweight champ Markus Beyer following their bloody and controversial battle in Germany last month.

Beyer, who was on the canvas twice and covered in blood after five rounds, retained his title by a controversial disqualification.

While initial reports indicated Beyer would be out of boxing for a year, his promoters said yesterday the battered champion was prepared to fight Green again in the former East German city of Reisa.

Chris Meyer, a spokesman for the promotional group Sauerland Event, which also promotes IBF/WBA champ Sven Ottke said: "Markus is fit to fight. The cuts are healing astonishingly well and we have confirmed to the WBC that he is ready to box in November."

The only hitch is whether the WBC will allow the rematch to take place because Beyer is contracted to fight a return with Canadian Eric Lucas, who lost his title to the German by a controversial decision in Leipzig on April 5.

I can't see this happening soon as he has to fight Lucas in a rematch.

I'm told the Beyer-Lucas fight was a very controversial decision.

Lucas is trying to get the rematch fight out of Germany because of the fact Germany is a particularly tough place for a visiting fighter to win by a points decision, which makes it more of a challenge because Lucas is not a fighter with knockout power.

But if the fight between Green and Beyer goes ahead i'm tipping Green to KO Beyer in the 5th

Seeing Lucas was the champ I'm buggered if I know why he defended his title in Germany.

I was just thinking the same - just looked at Beyer's fight record and all his fights are based in Germany and the same goes for Germany's other champ Ottke

Same goes with Dariusz Michalczewski.

Its too bad that Dariusz Michalczewski only fights in Germany otherwise he would be fighting Roy Jones Jnr.

But the same goes for Roy Jones Jnr as he won't go to Germany/Europe because of the home town advantage that German fighters have.

After Roy got robbed in Seoul I don't think he wants to fight o/s. It's not like the`US has no robberies though.

I don't think he would be scared, Green was beating Beyer but was DQ'd -so i'd say Beyer has got something to prove by beating Green.

Or then again he might be trying to get out of a rematch with Lucas.

i would say Danny Green would have to win via knockout because i doubt they would let him have a points victory over in Germany

The WBC ordered it. That's why he's getting a match against the winner of Beyer-Lucas.

As for why Lucas defended his title in Germany it probably came down to money. Guaranteed more ticket sales and buyrates on pay per view.
