Holy moly- it’s all happening. This train wreck of a season must be the catalyst for better times ahead. Broncos must have him lined up no?

He's gone to the Knights. Over rated as a player, but no doubt one of our leaders. Gives us time to sort out our halves for next season.

Been rumoured for a while now, so not surprised.

Moses is giving the club his final shake, before he's cast into Mount Doom.. Poor Knights, he's well entrenched over there.

Mixed feelings - seems a leader, not a top level half, but serviceable and can control a game and stay calm - but like a few others not part of any future here

Wish him and his family well

Yeah, that's where I am at too.

Chance for Keighran

Surely with him having sort a release then we wouldn’t be paying anything but.... this is the Warriors and i wouldn’t be surprise in the slightest

Releasing him without an apparent replacement lined up? Management either have that sorted or are hoping Adam or Tavita Harris see this as a decent chance to step up.
I thought he was ok but like a lot of the name players we sign , they tend to be at the end of their playing days and on the slide.

Not gonna help the season but the right move long term. No real point holding back on future development during a season that was a write off from near the start. Something previous administrations often did.

Not to labor a point, but if we are paying, you might as well have a guy like that see out the term. We did it with Inu, paid for him to play for the dogs.

It is not like we have a lot of depth in the halves. So if you want a young guy to have a go, just put Green on Ice for handy injury cover and mentoring the young replacements.

It will be interesting to see what they have done here. The place from the outside looks like they are just reacting on impulse left right and center.

If he’s been offered a place by the Knights and wants it what does keeping him achieve? There no point having an unmotivated player playing out his contract for the sake of a mid table finish at best if it’s hampering future development.
Insisting on keeping him because we’ve already paid is like insisting on using the mouldy vegetables in the fridge.

Greens a good player to have as your 2nd half, can take pressure off the main guy and can be relied on for another option.

Out problem was that for the last 2 years he's been our main half, and he's simply not that good.

I expect hell go really well with Pearce, he won't be expected to do everything, so that means when he does have a couple of nice touches a game, hell look really good.

I wish him all the best, hope he plays finals footy this year

I don’t think we had the moral authority to demand that he stay

No we didn't but telling someone they wouldn't be required next season without an apparent succession plan doesn't make us look well organized. I am hoping one of our younger players can step up and make a decent fist of it.

In the same breath neither did he. He has left on a 3 month contract, the agreement was that if he can get a longer term opportunity somewhere else then he is free to leave. He hasn't got that, he has got the same contract that he had at the warriors. Must have been some agitating toward letting him go IMO.

He does have form in this area, and the manager in question stinks.

Interim Warriors coach Todd Payten has expressed his displeasure with halfback Blake Green's "surprise" departure to the Newcastle Knights this week.

"I wasn't happy, mate," Payten said on Wednesday.

"I was disappointed with the way it transpired. It happened quickly and he made it pretty clear that he didn't want to be here."

Payten, who revealed to NRL 360 on Monday that he'd declined the full-time Warriors coaching job for family reasons, was reluctant to go into further detail about his own future.

But he expanded on the circumstances surrounding 33-year-old Green's sudden move to Newcastle, who he'll represent at five-eighth against Wests Tigers on Saturday.

It was reported at the start of July that Green was upset after finding out his services weren't required beyond 2020.

Green said Warriors owner Mark Robinson hadn't personally spoken to him before publicly revealing the veteran wouldn't be re-signed.

"Blake came to the club and asked for some direction around what was happening for next year. He probably got an answer that he didn't really want to hear," Payten said.

"It blew up in the media and then he just got on with it and he played some really good footy and handled himself really well.

"It was a bit of a surprise that he wanted to leave. He wasn't really vocal but he said he didn't want to be here, so that's what disappointed me the most."

Asked if he meant that Green had "spat the dummy", Payten replied: "No, I'm not saying that mate."

Green's exit has provided 21-year-old Chanel Harris-Tavita the chance to wear the No.7 jersey and partner Kodi Nikorima.

Payten now wants to see Harris-Tavita and key players around him "step up" their leadership.

"Blake was a security blanket with his talk and direction. And a lot of the times I reckon they sat back and let him take control and were happy to do so," Payten said.

"But now he's gone there's a definite new feeling. Not just Chanel but Wayde [Egan], Karl [Lawton], Kodi, Rog [Tuivasa-Sheck], Tohu [Harris], those guys have to lift their talk and their direction."

The coach is excited by Harris-Tavita's potential, saying "he's got the foundation of being a decent NRL player".

"The best thing with Chanel is he wants to learn. He's always working hard on his game and I've been really impressed with the way he goes about his training and the way he approaches his game," Payten said.

"Stacey [Jones] has been doing a lot of work with him over the last six to 10 weeks and Chanel's the one pushing that along."

After beating the Tigers, the Warriors can achieve back-to-back wins for the first time this season when they face Manly on Friday.

"It would be hugely beneficial for everyone here [in camp on the Central Coast] and everyone back home," Payten said.

"There's a spring in the step of everyone at training. I didn't think we trained too well on Monday, I thought we were a little frantic, but we've calmed down and we put in a good session today.

"I know we're playing a team at Brookvale who are specialists at ambushing teams. So we know what to expect."
