Reports coming out that Blake Green has signed a 1 year deal with the Bulldogs for 2021.
Apparently signed 3 weeks ago.

Interesting that Barrett has signed him.... Beaver?

Barrett must have had a look at the market, and he knows Green so went there, he has also been in touch with Waddell, Fainu and Goseiwski from Manly with Albert Hopoate rumoured as well

Give me Foran for 500k or Green around the 400k mark and I know who I’d be taking, and it isn’t Blake

What’s your take on Barrett

keeps going well as an assistant coach...

I thought there was an acrimonious exit from Manly with Green and his agent Moses, when Barrett was in charge. Thats why i found this signing odd.

There definitely was, but I think on a 1 year deal you don’t have that risk of him doing it again, and Barrett is his own man, rather than a Manly man

I thought he did show some promise, we did have a good year under him, but his defensive coaching was extremely poor and he didn’t show any ability to handle adversity. His excuses about not being resourced well enough and having to bring his own furniture from home showed some weakness

A big knock on him was that he was far too close to the players, apparently it was a common sight to see him out on the piss with the boys which is an area a head coach probably shouldn’t be involved in

Will be interested to see what he has learnt because there were some things I did like about him

cant help but think he took the wrong job. If he just kept his powder dry a little longer he would have had the Dragons job sewn up. Barrett and the Dogs just dont seem a good fit.

Bulldogs can’t take a trick. Bit of a boneheaded signing, really.

Interesting to hear Rothfield question Green’s professionalism (specifically in training) on the Telegraph’s podcast.

Green and Foran won't be the quickest halves combo in the west.

It's so bizarre, and we are a major factor in this considering our reasons for signing him and the fanfare, but it is amazing how revered Green is as a top half when in reality its probably only resulted in 3 good seasons in the NRL.. (2 with Melbourne and 1 with Manly). It's really like they are talking about a top representative half.

He comes off as a really good bloke in his interviews too.

Fufu, you must put 2018 down as one of Green's 'good seasons in the NRL'.

He had the ball on a string for us, that year, and was a big part in our return to finals footy.

Yeah Foran is gone, he turned down their initial deal and think I heard yesterday they won’t be offering a revised one

Newcastle, Tigers and Manly mentioned as destinations for him. He is best mates with Pearce, and obviously the Des factor at Manly. He left in very acrimonious circumstances the first time round, but so did Des and they took him back

What do people see in Foran anymore? I don't think he's played well (or been injury-free) for at least 5 years.

He was great in his prime. Way past it now. Bulldogs look to be replacing one over the hill half with another. Neither are worth much money IMO. Foran should have taken what he was offered because I can't see many other clubs taking a gamble on him being a disaster again. He certainly can't be relied on to play a full season.

Agree with his past 5 seasons, but when I have seen him play this year for the Dogs, he has been sensational. It’s a gamble, but if you can sign him for 4-500k and you get 20 games out of him in his current form, you’re getting a steal. But it can very easily go the other way, his playing style destroyed his body early on in his career

Foran is only 30, and speed isnt a big part of his game either so if he can stay injury free you could probably squeeze 3 or 4 years out of him. He could dare I say it, become a Blake Green type player. Hired gun for teams in need of a veteran half

Foran has been really good for the Dogs this year... but he seems to want money that's reflective of 24 y/o Foran... that said, look at what we apparently pay Blair - who hasn't been good since pre WWII

Like a few have already said, when he's on the field Foran is gold.
10 try assists in 10 games v Greens 7 in 14 games.

Agree 100%, if you could get 18-20 games out of him a year and get him for $500k you're away laughing

In fact, Foran would be quite a good buy for us imo.
We have a couple of young guys in CHT and Turner who are not ready to steer a team around yet.
Foran helps steer the ship right now, offers guidance for their development and when he ultimately breaks down and misses 5-8 games a year it gives the younger guys a chance to step up with not much expectation on them.

Sign him up on 500k and I'd take him
