I saw this movie for the first time ever today. It was awesome, but I tell you what would be a lot better? A movie could "North London Derby" about the rivalry between the greatest Football Club in the world (Arsenal) and the biggest pretenders (Tootenham)!
Tootenham would get smashed on the pitch by the Gunners and then after the game the Gooners would give it to the Speeews. :D

I really dug the movie, with the exception of having to buy Elijah Wood as somebody who could handle themselves in a fist fight. Helps that it's about the mighty Hammers! :D

Beat me to it

The reason it's about West Ham is because they were pretty tough back in the day...one of the characters explains it with his "Arsenal..good football, sh!t firm" spiel..

And yes, I'm sick of the Arsenal saturation on this forum.

Might be another one...

There is a book called Fever Pitch and then a movie was made based on it, sort of comedy/romance type movie. It's set around the 1989 season when Arsenal defeated Liverpool 2-0 at Anfield on the last day of the season to win the title (they had to win by 2 goals re goal dif to take title).

Ah the memories :D (last minute of stoppage time)...

"It's up for grabs nooooowww, THOMAS"

fever pitch was a pretty good movie actually
No matter how many times I watch it I still get a little chill down the spine as the young lad goes up the stairs and sees the Highbury pitch for the first time

Isn't that about baseball and Jimmy Fallon being an insufferable merkin?

Yep. That's the American version. There's the English version, which Macca is talking about, which is a great movie. I don't think it'd matter what team you support, it's not really the point of the movie. More about what football means to people.

Both movies are derived from the 'Fever Pitch' book by Nick Hornby, which is also a top read. Again it's about what football means to people.

No, that's the Perfect Catch with Drew Barrymore.

The Perfect Catch is actually based on Nick Hornby's book Fever Pitch with resulted in the film of the same name. The yanks just adapted the story to make it about baseball.

Tbh I found FF a lot grittier than GSH, which was glammed up by hollywood glitz.

I somehow can't imagine the well 'ard West Ham hooligans talking about the karate kid and coaching little kids teams...
