No not give up but it can’t realistically be the main source. Windmills definitely not the answer. Absolute disgraceful things from sound pollution, visual pollution, killing wildlife, the mass clearing of vegetation for them to be built and they are not a stable power source for the energy grid.

I think Solar power on peoples roofs is fantastic but we need a to have a main stable and reliable power source and that at present is the use of our very clean coal that we have at our disposal. If new technologies come about that are cleaner and just as stable great. But that does not exist at present.

The big industrial countries are not going our costly direction so why in the f**k are we waving our green flag when it’s changing jack shyte?
TBH, I've never been able to figure out why, with all the land in the middle of the country that no one wants to live in, we don't build massive solar farms or something out there. Maybe I'm a bit thick, but surely there's a way.

One of my biggest hates is that we don’t utilise land that could contribute to something for the Country.

We are land rich. Yet we are idea dumb with projects for this land.

I’d love to see more water projects to make land more fertile for farming. There is so much water that goes out to see that could be piped.

Yes it’s a major project but you tick off little projects on the way and it creates jobs that in the end will contribute to more productivity for the Country down the track.

The biggest resource going forward is food. The world population’s are only going up. The sources of food for the most part are not growing with it. As a country we could benefit greatly if we got our act together.

But where are the great visionaries in politics these days?

3 year terms and minority governments haven’t helped any party focus on the future.
Now the one time someone had an actual plan for the long term future ( nuclear ) it’s been shot down badly so there is no way a party will commit to a long term plan going forward.

Large areas of Australia’s outback are currently used for unirrigated, low density beef cattle pasture :

If you irrigate land, there is potentially much more that you can do with it. However, a recent major CSIRO study of three regions in Northern Australia believed to have the strongest potential for water resource development found that:

If irrigated opportunities were pursued to their fullest extent they would only occupy about 3 per cent of the Assessment area.
This is because there are not many places where dams or other water storages are feasible from an engineering and water availability perspective, and even with water development, large areas are unsuitable for agriculture in terms of soils, climate, or other factors.

You can read more about the study and about the potential that does exist for water and agricultural development in Northern Australia here: NAWRA Overview and findings.

I wonder if China was here if they would’ve put it in the too hard basket? Or would they have found a way with clever technology.

To be honest I don’t trust current politicians in Australia to successfully deliver any massive projects. All the other side wants to do is scare monger because it’s not their idea. Not what could potentially be good for Australians or Australia. Why start something they won’t see finish or get credited for. It’s sad but being a politician these days is about themselves and the party.

Minor parties only have relevance because of the voting system. This preferential voting system is bullshit. Should be you poll the most votes you get elected in your seat.

We’d get rid of all the small time party upstarts getting big air time and accountable for nothing in the real world. Thank f**k we’ve probably seen the last of Clive Palmer. Although the media will miss his millions he pissed up a wall.

Born 1972 and married with children.

Seen plenty of shyte in my life and my parents have seen even more in their lives.

Just a piece of advice. Don’t mock the older generations. They never had the luxuries that this present generation has in learning, work life or social life. But you’ll learn a lot from them. It’s called “Life Experience”. It’s not something you can google. Fancy that.

The first thing they’ll teach you is that there are no free lunches. You’ll pay for them in the end and in a lot of cases many times over. Another thing they’ll teach you is that there’s a sucker born every minute. That’s where you come in…….
So you think looking after the disabled the downtrodden in society, the elderly, are after a free lunch?

Again you making it out people aren’t entitled for help we all pay taxes people are entitled to get the help they deserve after all why even elect governments? Might as well get the corporations running the show.
If you subsidise something you get more of it. The NDIS is the biggest magnet for fraud in history.

When I refer to the free lunch I refer to the entitled generation. You know the ones with 30pairs of shoes in their cupboard. The generation that think everything should be handed to them. But don’t want to make any sacrifices in life.

The vunerable in society should definitely be catered for. As long as you you’re not referring to dole bludgers.with the downtrodden reference.

Pensioners have never been a priority for the ALP.

And the growing number of people who are homeless in Australia is growing at a rate of knots not decreasing under Albo.

So don’t tell me this Government is doing a great job with the Cost of living Crisis. It’s the same shyte. But Albo is a great salesman. I hope people can afford what they just bought.

It’s a shame as there are real genuine people who genuinely need assistance. But human nature these programs attract the dishonest and crime gangs like flies to shyte. Poor administration of it has it ballooning to a cost that can’t be sustained long term.

You make some great points I say to you that pensioners as a whole are a lot better under labour, they got a better pension rise under labour than they got under the liberals, As for the cost of living crisis you do know it was a world wide phenomenon it affected every country on the planet. Yeah I do accept that Albo should have done more to help people.

Your right Labor did give pensioners a boost this term. But traditionally they haven’t been the Labor parties biggest priority. But then on the other hand they’ve copped higher electricity prices, higher food prices etc. this term of Government so they’ll say it hasn’t matched their growing costs.

Yes the Russia / Ukraine war had a major part in the cost of living crisis. But the ALP last election said they’d fix it. Nothing has been fixed.

But look don’t think I’m not dirty on the Coalition they deserved to have their arses handed to them. Their lack of policies and policy depth just showed the public they didn’t have any new ideas. They ran a pathetic lazy campaign and got what they deserved. There is a serious lack of talent there now and they will be in the political wilderness for at least two more terms of government. Pretty much the same as what happened to Labor in NSW State Government after Kristina Keneally got annihilated and the labor ranks was decimated. It took them 12 years to finally recover and successfully challenge with Mims.

I hope things do get better in Australia sooner rather than later as I hate to see good people suffer. I don’t care if it’s under a Labor government or Coalition Government. The prosperity of this Country is more important than shitty politics. But I won’t cop that things are great at the moment because they’re not.

I had to go into the city earlier this week for a specialist appointment. I live out near Camden these days, so took the train from Macarthur station. The number of tents I saw in parks and open spaces on the way into the city was eye opening. Who's helping these people? Why doesn't someone like Clive Palmer, who likes to talk big, open his wallet and instead of spending however millions on *not* getting elected, put his money where is mouth is?

Last thing I will say in regards to politics remember when the consumer was sold that selling of the poles and wires will eventually give the consumer cheaper electricity bills, people are still waiting for it.
