Sharks boss Steve Rogers was reportedly disappointed Greg Bird copped 10 match ban
for kneeing Souths Shane Marteene....I think privately he might be thinking Bird was quite lucky.

He pleaded guilty so I assume he got a reduced sentence. That will make him think about things he does on the field in future anyhow.

The panel recommended 7-9 weeks. He got 10. He deserved 15 (and I am one of his biggest fans). Rogers expected less because he wanted less.

The Judiciary took 5 mins to reach the decision.

4 mins longer than, then what I would have taken.

I was expecting him to get 12 weeks.

If he broke the players jaw it would have been a lot more than 10 weeks. The judiciary is a joke.

The act was disgraceful.
But I don't understand how people can say that e.g. 10 weeks is no good, should be 12 or the panel recommends 7-9 but somebody (who?) picks 10

It seems very arbitrary. How do they arrive at 7 weeks or 10 or 12? Is there some sort of precedent? Do they compare all new offences to the suspensions that Mark Geyer served? Tim Maddison?

I don't understand the process for these ungraded offences. Can anybody shed any light?
