PROS

Massive upgrade over Glenn in the starting team

CONS

Very negative reputation with sponsors and people in general.
Questionable team culture fit. (And that was before the coke thing).
Getting old.
The money could / should be spent on an impact prop instead. We already have Glenn, Gilette, Parker, Thaiday, Oates etc etc

So no.

Thaiday out, Bird in. I'd do that in 2 seconds. I bag Bird and he is a dill and a half, but the bloke is a gun player. There must be behaviour clauses though.

Turns 30 this year, has all sorts of disciplinary issues, guy was arrested not long after his wedding for juvenile bullshit. You can be damn sure Bennett wants nothing to do with him.

Rightfully so.

Let him rot in some other club.

Nope don't want him anywhere near my club. Even him being at the Titans is a bit to close for me.

Yet he is still a better option than having a fat Sam Thaiday plodding around the team not giving a toss all year long like last year as well. This 'don't pick him he was a naughty boy' was so good when we punted Gagai.....

He is 30 this year, has rep duties from origin and test that will drain him, comes with an attitude that would be bad for this club & he probably would want good money for his last contract.

For what it's worth I hope we don't sign Thaiday. His best days were over after 2011. Hodges' opinions in the paper today only highlight that he wants him kept purely because he's a good mate. Broncos need to start sacking and recruiting like a business, Thaiday being a good guy to have around the club doesn't count for shit on the football field.

Wouldn't sign him for free, not the type of bloke you'd want at your club at all. Can't believe anyone is even considering it.

Nope we don't need money being spent on another backrower. Even if Thaiday leaves, Oates should be groomed for his spot.

Thaiday should have been told drop 5 kilos or you play in the QLD Cup. Honestly how fat is he? It is outright embarrassing. This signing players because they are great mates never works out.

Bird at least will play well every week. Now the issue is how much. That is my only concern, but then again if we flip Thaiday's deal for Bird, we come out ahead. His off field stuff is not that BAD. This thing is bad, but who knows he may be found not guilty of it.

You know I heard the same thing about Dane Gagai. Refresh my memory how has that decision gone for us? Oh thats right we have the mighty Jack Reed and his Covell like speed at centre

I rate him as a player and under Bennett he MIGHT sort his shit out.

Well he's better than Thaiday and Glenn, but with Oates in the background he wouldn't be worth spending our money on (unless cutting Thaiday and Glenn saves more money).

Too old, he won't change his ways. After getting away with glassing your girlfriend you'd think you'd sort yourself out

That's his problem HT. He's got away with too much and thinks he's immune.

I like the way Penrith are building their team. They are recruiting players that are solid citizens as well as good on the stats table.

This is what we should be looking at as well. Let's set a standard and stick by it. If you compromise on Bird - picking him up after a drug bust - what are you going to do if an existing player down the track gets busted? You'll almost be obligated to take no action on him.

Yes Bird is a great player. Yes he can do some good things on a footy field. But I've always thought that on the field he's a two step forward, one step back type of player. For every two good things he does on the field, he'll give away a penalty or do something stupid.

Also, he's pretty lazy sometimes. Definite no.

Good guys never win. If you want to say no to every single 'troubled' player you will never win. Even Bellamy has taken a few risks. Meanwhile we get rid of Gagai and it blows up in our faces as per usual.
