Griese - Could he finally get a start?

"DAVIE, Fla. (Oct. 22, 2003) -- Miami quarterback Jay Fiedler has been listed as questionable for the Dolphins' Monday night game at San Diego because of a sprained ligament in his left knee.

Fiedler did not take any snaps during the team's practice. Backup Brian Griese, signed by Miami in the offseason after four years as Denver's starter, worked with the starting offense and will get the call if Fiedler can't play.

Dolphins coach Dave Wannstedt said he would not announce the starter before the game, but added that he will make the decision before then. He also said the uncertainty over who will start will not affect the week's preparation for the Chargers.

"There are some things that one does maybe a little better than the other, but we would not fall into that trap of wasting time working on plays that either one couldn't work or run," Wannstedt said.

Fiedler, who wore a large brace on the knee during the workout, was able to participate in individual drills, Wannstedt said.

"There never really was much pain in it," Fiedler said. "It's a mobility problem more than a pain problem."

this could mean good news for Greise. he could have his first start for the team his father and grandfather played for. this could be a big week for denvers ex-QB

I cant stand Fiedler bashers, he is a great quarterback, and although Griese was in good form at stages with the Broncos, Fiedler is much more suited to the Dolphins game. His ability to run is also very deceptive because he uses it sparingly

i know what u mean paullyboy. fiedler is a great player, which is why i was suprised when he left the starting spot at denver to the bench at miami. its in his blood to play for miami, and its good to see that he will finally get a start!

well griese did get his game start and he played pretty damn well! 20 from 29 completions for 192 yards with 3 touchdowns and no interceptions to lead his team to victory 26-10 victors over the chargers. pretty good start to his season.

Jay Fiedler can take his time to get over his injury. I'll be happy if he takes until sometime after the Superbowl to be sufficiently recovered.

he definately did better than i expected, but he was given a favour in that he was actually given a descent chance to pass, something Jay is often not given.

I severely doubt it, the dolphins D wont set him up with countless opporunities this week because they have to counter Peyton Manning instead of Drew Brees this week. Having said that, this is gonna be one hell of a clash, Peyton vrs Surtain

On second thought maybe Jay should hurry back. I don't suppose there's any way of merging the strengths of the two into one great QB?

I think they should start looking at their #2 receiver position. Chris Chambers is the only descent wide receiver they have, and he is well and truely not good enough to hold up a passing game like Marvin Harrison or Randy Moss can do. They use Randy McMichael very well, and he is a great talent, but they really cant expect their quarterbacks to thrive with the options they are presented with. I still insist that Jay is the man for Miami, but He and Chambers arent going to do it alone.

And defences just watch Ricky Williams all day now because they dont need to watch anyone else, his season has seen a running back hit in the backfield more than i think i have ever seen before.
