I like the look of that backline, If Benny can regain fitness and Guru his marbles that is far better than anything we ran out with in 2008.

Love that, but I do feel for Reddy... I would say Reddy should be there instead of Grothe at this point. If Grothe does can prove his worth ill have him back in a second.

Thats a great looking backline. However i would replace Etu with Reddy. He was one of our most consistant players this year and he definitely deserves to keep his spot.

IMO this should be our starting 5 next year;
1. Jarryd Hayne / Nathan Gardner
2. Joel Reddy / Luke Burt
3. Kristan INU / Tamila Tauati
4. Ben Smith / Taniela Lasalo
5. Eric Grothe / Etu Uaisele

The players in red will be handy replacements and i think we will have great depth for next year. Luke Burt has plenty of first grade experience and has always been a reliable player. Tamila took a while to settle into first grade this year but like many i am expecting bigger things from him next year. I have been particularly impressed with Gardner and Lasalo in the under 20's. Gardner has the spark and pace our backline needs. He is very very good in open space and he certainly is no stranger to finding the tryline. If he bulks up well in the off season i think he will get a chance at some point throughout the season. Lasalo is a monster and has been very consistant throughout the year. He reminds me a lot of Tony Williams. However like williams i think his future lies in the second row. I havn't seen much of Etu but from all reports he has the goods and may push for selection next year.

That looks pretty good on paper actually... I suspect Burt will still be higher in the pecking/selection order than Reddy, but Joel had a fantastic season and I would be more than happy seeing him in the starting 5.

Haven't seen a lot of Lasalo, or if I have he just didn't stood out to me on the day? Gardner will be a bit green to throw into first grade just yet, but is worth blooding at some point, so he's ready for more in 2010. I liked the look of that Mase guy, if he's staying with us...
