I don't think it's been mentioned but at the Warriors game, Max looked smashed when he arrived on the ground.

That guy was fimilar though, was that Dave Carlsen? He used to be on Fox Sports, Sky Racing and i think Ch 9 news.

Did a good job too, and I also liked it when the "Parra Parra" song was played when the boys ran out, something that should happen every home game, cause the crowd got right into it.

Thats him, and was told today that he is a Dragons Fan.. Was called in as a favour by Ossie. Would be interesting to see if his Full Time announcer for next year. I dont understand why we cant find a Parra supporter to do it. In saying that, after seein him at the Fan Day I woulda thought he followed Parra.. At least he knew all their names, thats a start.

He's boring as hell and gets things wrong too often, and how the NRL keeps making him the announcer for the finals/Grand Final has me stumped.[/QUOTE]

Hi, didnt make it to any of the finals (except for the St George game at Jubilee) but generally the announcer at ANZ is Steve Allan who looks after all of the Bulldogs games. He is the best in the business and doesnt carry on like some of the other tossers who feel they are more important than the players! Having said that though there are some other very good ground announcers around. Whilst it helps if they are fans of the team that is paying them I dont think its essential as a professional will still do the job.

Does anyone know if Mark Warren is getting the gig next year? Tonight will be the last time to hear him this year. He started out all right but has got worse as the season has progressed. Calling the Storm the "2009 Premiers" constantly was bad, but last home game, apparently we have a player "Jeff Robinson".

Last home game in particularly bad. He was really shouting, and kept saying "lets go Parramatta".........I swear each time he did that, one of our players would lose the ball.

He was an improvement on Max Bowen but really, our ground announcers are embarassing.

he has gotten worse imo. max-like mistakes creeping in more regularly, and even tried to commentate parts of last weeks game - like he was auditioning to be his dad?

wouldn't notice or care if they got some anonymous cheap radio news-reader voice next season instead, and they talked a bit/lot less.

Mark Warren behind the microphone is exactly the same as Mark Warren in real life, doesn't need to put on an act.

Never shuts up and has a few screws loose upstairs.

Can't knock him for doing his best but will always be in the shadow of his old man.

Maybe we could hire Ray Warren to do the announcing AND the commentating at the same time. I hope i'm not alone when I say that his voice really gets crowds going.

I met Maxi Bowen the other day, he was disappointed he left Parramatta Stadium. He does the Tigers games at SFS.

The ground announcers are the only people I hear on the mic, everyone else is too quiet I cant hear em. Our sound system is so sh*tt, they need to fix that up.

Tonight, hopefully it was his last gig. He was awful - he was calling the plays at times, generally carrying on and all the people around me kept yelling 'shut up!' a number of times. He was embarassing.........

Nah, it's just that Mark Warren holds the mic too close to his own mouth, and then shouts into it...

I heard him all the way from Parra RSL bowls club on Macquarie Street, on the way to the game! He's a high decibel nightmare.
