If these guys are our pack for the rest of the year then we are in the race for the wooden spoon. This is a terrible forward back, possibly the worst we have ever fielded in regards to NRL standard and just a continuation of what has not worked for the last 5 years. This is probably the worst part, it hasn't worked for 5 years so why continue using the same broken type players?

  • You can give Mannering player of the match every game he plays for the Warriors but he is a complete waste of play with ball in hand. The guys hurts this team by how hopelessly ineffective he is ball in hand. I don't care that he makes 1000 tackles every game because that is all he offers and that is why we lose. He is completely unbalanced as a player and his defensive capabilities which are remarkable keep him in the team. Think about it seriously then realize 5 years of this crap. I just wish another team bought him. I could live with him if we had a Lauititti and Faumuina in the team to counter balance but we dont. So we keep loosing.
  • Same goes for Lillyman, why they give him the ball in the opposition 20 so often defies belief, the guy has the line penatration of marshmallow. He either is an NRL starter or you cut him. Why do you cut him the slack by bringing him off the bench? Take his paycheck and give it to a big mean prop. Simple. The only thing Bull about Lillyman is his Bull-shit performances.
  • Gubb, tries the hardest in the team to make an impact. Has more attitude and willingness to have a go than anybody else. I think he is our Ashton Sims, not a player who makes a impact with skill rather than with attitude. Wont win you games though with our pack.
  • Hoffman is barely NRL level anymore, like our favorite expression for any white forward at the , he is all heart, moungrel, attitude, hard work, dirty work. Yep everything that doesnt require talent like the rest of these guys.
  • Can someone tell me how Afoa is playing 2nd row in the NRL? What did he do through the lower grades to get him to NRL level? because he makes very little common sense playing there. He is a prop at border line NRL level at 2nd row only the Warriors would play him there. Just doesnt make any football sense what so ever.
  • Thompson offers the most dynamic capability of the entire forward pack which worries me because he leans more towards reserve grade quality than NRL. Says it all really.
  • Lisone, is he a 6/7 of Prop/2nd rower? somebody tell him or SK because clearly he doesn't know either!
  • Luke goes from being the top 2 NRL hooker to utter shit at the warriors. Honestly spare me the excuses but that is unacceptable.

  • Vatuvei coming back is just as hopeless. Greatest warriors winger ever? - bullshit, id take Meli and Fa'afili any day of the week. Least when Vatuvei comes back there will be an extra warm pair of hands to high five when somebody drops the ball or makes a mistake.
  • Shaun Johnson, kicks it out on the full once every match, makes one big play a game and the rest of the game he runs the team like the captain on the titanic. Blind and asleep at the wheel.
Ata Hingano is the only bright light at the moment but you can kiss that goodbye when Foran debuts. Maybe Foran will be the messiah for one seson. Most likely not

Im sorry but this Warriors pack is soft and unlikely to provide jack all in 2017. Undersized, underskilled and untalented. Please God give me a Lauitiiti, Faumuina, Villasanti, Tookey, Paleaeasina, Guttenbeil, Seuseu, Swann, Tuimavave.

Thought Kearney would turn this team around and then I remembered the kiwis vs Scotland game and I woke up

GROUNDHOG DAY!!!!

As to where they get the ball, the vaunted spine needs to sort their shit out

To criticise Mannering, Lillyman and Hoffman is laughable

Does look like a Groundhog Day season, we'll all suffer the shit start, the Origin period revival and the petering out - nothing has changed, but those three guys aren't the problem (at least not in terms of what they offer on the field, and presumably off it too)

I disagree that it is laughable. This is 5 years of this BS! and it is a very simple fix - you have to choose backrowers that suit the modern game, their attacking ability has to be equal to their defensive ability and it had to be at NRL level standard. Mannering is top 5 best defender in the game no doubt but when it comes to attack it severally disadvantages us. Lets not pass on blame to others, lets look at players as individuals.

Does Mannering provide any plus side to our attack? the answer is no! and does he do this for 80 mins?

Think about it.............. this goes for each individual in the team. We are a horribly unbalanced side. So we lose. GROUNDHOG DAY!

I must say, I do agree with a lot that was said. In saying that though, I'd have Mannering in my back row everyday of the week. We need to stop surrounding him with similar/ lesser type players with ball in hand though. Thou Harris will make a difference but that's 50 weeks away.

Liliman and Hoffman are certainly coming to the end of their time at Mt Smart though. We need to get a dynamic ball player in the now though. Someone who isn't scared to make an educated offload. Currently we are reliant on SJ to make a break and then work 2nd phase off that. We need options across the park. Not just a #7 continually closed down by the opposition.

I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again. Our wingers should be Kata and Fus. They are great finishers and can make a break. They both have the speed for the old 'in and away'. It's time to say goodbye to the Manu and Ken show!! And unsure where that leaves Tui (#14 off the bench).

Finding 2 centres from our current crop who can defend and pass, that will be the hard part. Ayshford currently would be one but unsure on the other.

Our times of the winger acting as an extra prop need to come to an end. It hasn't worked for the last 4-5 years, and I don't think SK is going to get it working either. Attacking options on the outsides are crucial. Name any regular Top 8 team that doesn't have this?

Just look at the Storm wingers for their entire dynasty. Bellamy continually picks up skillfill fast outside backs not on huge money or reputation but with raw speed in abundance and counts on his system of football to provide them opportunities to close. Swap Korobetie for Aldo-Carr etc, the factory of play continues.

Maumalo is a joke on the wing, cant understand what thinking is going through the warriors heads as even after I wanted him to get given the chance I clearly see it has failed.

New boss same as the old boss.

The problem, the whole problem, stems from our lack of props who can do the job.
So we bolster that by putting a prop into the second row. (Bunty). And getting the wingers to cart the ball up. (Manu & Ken.) Which means they can't run when needed and often play out of position.

Fix the real problem. Get some big, hardworking props.

That is only part of the problem, Yes we need Big props who hit the gain line and provide standard to fast play the balls but it means little if you have a backrow that can not provide 2nd phase play. The balance of the backrow is horribly wrong, incredibly static and provides only one dimension. Our entire forward pack is assembled wrong.

Where is Sipley at? And unsure exactly why, but I've always been a little bit of a Gavet fan.

These 2 plus Liliman and Matalino and add one of those off cast players that Bellamy finds from now where. We need to start solid in the middle.

Our young props seem to like laying on a short ball pass or trying a bit if this or bit of that. Surely that's not there job!! Tuck the ball in tight, run at the hole, get to your feet fast and play the ball calmly without f**king it up. Break their role down to the enth degree and it's not to complicated. How many times did the storm tight forwards pass the ball in difficult situations. Zero. Nil. None. They know their job and they do it. Discipline and coaching.

We're making our minds up after two rounds, apparently. One in the soaking wet v last year's GFists.

And also apparently, there's relevance in a Test match involving NZ and Scotland, even though it wasn't coached by Stephen Kearney and there were a total of, off the top of my head, three Warriors involved?

You make me laugh old pal.

Mannering, Hoffman & Bodene as a group produce more offloads on both a per run and per minute basis than the Storm backrow from last year, since you so helpfully framed our team against theirs.

Of course we need better/more dominant middle forwards. That's not news, I've been moaning about that for 3+ years. Funny though, Lillyman was our best last night... smashed the ball up several times while your boy Gubb was so busy being absolutely pathetic - but don't worry, he looked like he was keen so that's all ok right?

The real groundhog day; first loss of season and the Lion shows up. Bye troll.

Agree.. while I like the look of Vete, Lisone and Gubb, I wonder if they are too young and green.
We are missing Mutts big time.

Fusitua got no ball on the wing. He should have gone back to fullback. RTS aside, he's easily our best fullback

Massive over reaction. Kearney has inherited a squad. We have a large number of players off contract end of this year. The sort of players that he signs for next year will be a better indication of how he wants them to play.

10/10 for Melodrama.

Rule number 1
for being a New Zealand Warriors supporter. - There's always next year, new players will be signed as coach inherited a shit squad. Most common line used in warriors history and the perfect get out of jail card for any warriors fan to use. Good on you Cold Roses for playing it this early in the season after round 2. Never seen it played that quick before!

No point reacting yet, I see much worse things happening out there than these players.
Storm are a class act that will be truely tested when Smith retires and Cronk soon follows.

I know you have trouble keeping up at the best of times, so maybe read back through what you've said, and have a think about what you're actually trying to say.

You don't rate the pack and think they're useless, but then play the try hard smartarse card, and say that there is no point in waiting for change.

If that's the case, Why don't you offer your solution to your above comments? Tell us your immediate solution please. And no, Watmough and Matai are not an acceptable answer.

What is it going to be? Stick with the same players or not?
