should never have got that close and that pitch is pretty ordinary, no wonder Punter didn't want to bat first

I am really liking Hauritz in this team, his consistently economical bowling, late order batting resolve along with Lee is what we need more of. Competitive teams around the world have dogged lower orders, this talk of all-rounder Johnson will never be a reality... he has a poor temperament IMO. With the ball this is can be tolerated as he sprays it, then gets lucky through a batsman error and chuck in the rare jaffa. However, if you look at the fact he's a slogger this doesn't bode well in terms of 'all-rounder' status. Certainly a handy lower order bat though - perhaps float him in the order (Lee, Hauritz, Johnson are all very close in terms of batting talent imo, just depends on the situation and form their in.)

Only 1 of them has a test century.. Very harsh to call Johnson nothing but a slogger also. His bowling needs to improve he has gone down hill since South Africa.

Johnson's batting is a lot like his bowlng, when he is on song he can be devastating. When he is having an off day he can be terrible.

There is probably an argument that Lee is the better ODI batsman although personally I think Johnson's ODI batting will go to the next level.

Johnson is a far superior test batsman both on his capacity to score heavily; strike rate; shot sellecetion and technique.

Lee is very poor against the short ball at test level. Still a handy and dangerous batsman but not the threat that Johnson can be to even good attacks.

Gotta love the way Johnson has two very good knocks then one low score on a difficult pitch and people are straight on to him as overrated.

I rate his batting highly, he plays shots that world class batsman would be proud of. And he plays the short ball as good as any lower order batsman i have seen. But consistency is his main problem, same as when he has a ball in his hand. Nothing overated about his batting at all.

I think people have been raving about Mitch's batting for a while, and understandably so, although I do think he underperformed a bit with the bat in the Ashes. Still he's such a clean striker of the ball. Great to watch. I don't think theres anyone in the world i enjoy watching bat more tbh.

Yep great to watch isn't he? He hits the ball so cleanly and has all the shots. It makes it even better that he bats at 8 and is not afraid to throw the bat most times.
