Theirs was marginal at best. Risdon got the ball well before any contact and the French player wasn't even close to getting there before Ryan. Looked way worse in slow mo. Video ref has the same problem in soccer as it does in RL.

Risdon touched the ball slightly I think, there was slight deviation on the path of the ball.

Also Griezmann’s touch was heavy and he wasn’t getting to the ball.

I thought so live. Exact words were "fantastic tackle". Looked like Risdon's touch made it come onto Griezman slightly quicker which was the reason for the heavy touch that put it within reach of Ryan. There was one camera angle that made it look like there was no touch, another made it look like there was one.

Not sure what the rules are around the Vref in soccer, but in RL I'd expect a call that close to stay with the on field decision.

Regardless of whether you think it ultimately was a penalty, the fact there is so much debate about it surely shows it shouldn’t have been changed.

It’s supposed to be changed only when it’s 100% certain I think, and you can’t say either way on that one.

He def gives better set piece delivery than I am used to seeing from Australian players. There is usually at least a few that go cannoning into the one man wall.
