I am at work so no scans available as they are on my ipad and i have no internet connectivity on the ipad at work, but for those who havent read it or other news other outlets have released here is a summary of what the articles 18 pages entails.
- Grand Theft Auto V will have 3 Main protagonists which you will be able to switch between at your leisure both in and out of missions.
- The three protagonists are Michael a 40 sum year old retired bank robber who is in witness protection, he has 2 children he cant relate to and a wife who hates his guts (and he hates her). Trevor an ex army vet who lives in the more arid areas of Los Santos in a trailer, he is a little crazy and violent and Franklin a young ambitious african american who they didn’t reveal to much about besides to say he is trying to get ahead in the world.
- These three characters have different personalities, skills and even hobbies that they engage in in the world, they also each inhabit different areas of the city giving them a different take on the in game world.
- So the standards from GTAIV return in the entertainment sense (radio, tv, strip clubs etc…
but new activities range from Yoga, tennis and a full golf course to base jumping, BMX mountain biking, Quad Biking, Jet Skiiing and many more.
- The game world is the largest Rockstar have done to date, saying it is bigger then Red Dead, San Andreas and GTAIV combine, with some room left over… this ranges from the obvious urban areas to beaches to wine counties and even the return of San Andreas, Mount Chiliad!!!! (lets go Big Foot hunting again RIGHT!)
- No dating like in GTAIV and the Mobile phone and friends system giving you more to do with your mobile phone (i.e internet on the phone) but also relaxing on the whole friends calling you every 10 seconds to "go see some titties cousin"…
- Red Dead style Random in world occurances are coming to GTAV - if you see a car broken down in the desert you may or may not help them, or whilst exploring you might come across a bevy of dead bodies and some vans in what looks like a drug deal gone bad…
- Missions and mission types are being revamped with a major emphasis on the planning and executing of large multilayered heists… Thing the four lead clover style story line in GTAIV but expanded upon to fit better into the larger story.
- At any time during or a mission or outside of a mission you can switch between the protagonists - outside of a mission there is a random element to where or what that character will be doing but the transition is seemless enough to not jar your gameplay experience.
During mission switching is dynamic, Rockstar showed a particular mission that involved one character rappelling down the side of a building to rescue their target who was being interrogated by the in game CIA - across the way was another of the protagonists behind the scope of a sniper rifle and the final protagonists was in the getaway chopper. At any time during the mission you could switch between the three characters choosing what aspect you wanted to control.
There is probably a lot more from the article I am missing but those are the parts I am still chewing on… people will be happy to know they have rebuilt certain mechanics ie driving, gunplay and melee combat to respond to the changes made in the industry...
