Just my two cents worth:
Rugby League has always been a NSW and QLD competition. Just put on a game and you will get people there. Melbourne is a different kettle of fish. They love their AFL, heck they even get a thousand or so to watch training sessions in the Finals Series.
Now I'm not doubting if Melbourne should be in the competition or not, thats a decision for the powers to be because as long as mine or your back sides point to the ground there is not much we can do as fans to sway the decision of the NRL. Just look at Souths when they got kicked out of the competition.
However this is my only personal opinion, just like you all have your OWN OPINION I would not have a Melbourne side nor would I have a side in the competition from outside of NSW, ACT or QLD as targeting the CORE of supporters whould provide a much more successful competition then forcing people to follow the game.
Hoggy I understand where you are coming from as a born and breed Victorian wanting to support your team, but supporting your team comes at a great expense to others. Western Suburbs, Illawarra, Balmain, St. George all lost own identities and fans became dis-illusioned in the game. Most still are.
Thats just my two cents worth, agree or dis-agree its an opinion, just like you all have an opinion.
Just remember we have no sway over the governing body as fans.
