Well thats what I think anyway.
In an article the other day when asked, he made some key points on who would be the most likely.
He illustrated the relationship to rep footy & the eventual GF winners over the last 5 years, highlighting his very own team.
He said that the Knights, broncos, Roosters, Panthers et al will all struggle with the rep season.
The most likely team, according to him, will have a very good play maker & the rest of the team will have a lot of up & comers with good first grade experience.

To me he is saying Sharks, Raiders or maybe Melbourne.

For mine, I think he is wrong.
I think the Warriors will find a way to steal the cup out right from under our noses this year. As long as they have no selection dramas or major injuries.

hhhmmmmm............ strange thing to say from someone, who in their short time on this forum(& unheard of on other forums), has only seen a "happy" me.

for the record, I expect Stu Raper to be able to take the team to the eight.
Anything else is just a bonus.
For this year.

I love it. 3 Schooners of New thanks Morpheus.

Hagan is a smart guy. I think he is on the money with his assessment too. The better sides from this year will be heavily scrutinised through video and computer stats. The way the game has gone translates into a quick turnover from also rans to Premiership threats.

Add that to their large contribution to Rep games and I think the lesser fancied sides slip under the guard of a lot of teams.

With the sqaud the Sharks have and all of the above mentioned, I am really looking forward to next year. ;-)

Im keeping Blacktips prediction of our finnishing in the top 8 as my first entry in the 2004 "what could have beens". The last guy got us there in 2002 and we crucified him! Didn't we!

reefy, the attitude of making the 8 anything is bonus, is the wrong attitude, that would yet be another losing season, and the the post of last coach to have us make the 8 was under enromous pressure would have to ring true again, anything but winning the premership is a losing season

The "winning culture" method is over! I was a fan of it but it is goooooorne. Move on. We are now back to the "Sharks culture" method. I am looking forward to that now. What is past is past.

Well that depends on "how", or even "if", you look at the business side of things.

I have supported the sharks longer then most here 1977 to be exact, and we are still trying to have a winning season, winning is only when you are the champions, and nothing less, settling for 2nd best is not what should be accepted, I ask the question relating to the English Premier League, if Arsenal, Man Utd or Chelsea fail to win, it will be a losing season, and in Chelsea there coach will be sacked, so the only winning season is the premership, even look at our league the Broncos made the 8 but it was a losing season, the attitude must be win at all costs do not accept losing, there were a lot of posts over the last 2 years aimed at the former coach when we lost i can only assume if we lose approx same amount of games the same posts will be aimed at the new coach, as a show of consistency

Actually, no, if there are the same amount of losses, there will be a lot more posts about the ex-person in charge, for recuiting poorly & turning a bunch of talented guys, into skill-less, risk averse, ramming poles.
Win at all costs mentality usually means a big f**k up is on the way.
Dogs, Manly, Newtown, Norths etc etc.
In fact, the secret is financial viability at all costs, preferably with low risk.
You are then in a position to build a "complete" team. Not a bitsy team made up of a few stars, a few average & a few hobos.
I think you should be off now with your pro Anderson agenda.
It's tiresome now.

Does that mean if we finish, say, top 4 next year, that you might appreciate the recruiting that the ex-person in charge has done?

Somehow, i think there is still a lot of people here who dont like the Anderson recruitment policy, but when we win the comp in 2004, at lot of people will have to be forgiveness, considering he recruited Bailey,Kimmorley, Vagana, Lomu, Merritt, Galloway, Nutley, Newton, Williams, Russo, Franze, Hilder, my some good players recruited and he did recruit some duds, then again Lang at Penrith recruited Donato, Bell but is remembered for winning the comp

I've got no problem with it, 68. I still reckon he should've been given 3. He said he WOULD do it in 3, but he wasn't allowed to try. I'm living with that, and I am living with whatever comes along. Always have. This was to be Anderson's 3rd. Let's trust Raper can realise Anderson's promise of a premiership in 3 years and do it in one, that's all that's left.
I start every season with hope and a smile, and end every season in tears. Let's hope 2004 is different.
Anderson is gone now. He won premierships with every club he's coached EXCEPT FOR CRONULLA. He wasn't allowed to complete his contract or his promise, so we'll never ever know if we would've won the 2004 Premiership under Anderson. Anderson promised us 2004, let's hope Raper can deliver it.

Forget Anderson, he's history, he's a low merkin but I will give him credit for transforming our reserve grade from a team of yesterday's heroes into tomorrow's NRL side.
