Anyone else hear the big RUMOUR that Hagan is bound for the eels in 2007. Apparently Dennis Fitzgerald the Eels CEO had ""no comment."" Could be some merit in it!

Possibly I guess, his been with us for a fair while and I am of the belief that coach's need a change of scenery every few years, wonder if Mal Reilly's a possibility if this is true.

Well I've never been wrapped in Hagan as a coach, so I guess if it happens I wont be overly concerned. I think he's been at the club too long anyway.

I'd be pretty happy to swap Hages for Jason Taylor if need be - he's going to be a pretty good coach.

The last we need is club distractions like this, especially concerning the coach. Parra will either go pretty poor or really good with the pressure now on Smith. We don't need any of this rumour talk.

When Johns and a few other big names are on fire hagan looks like a good coach. But as soon as there are injuries he isn't a good enough coach to use the tactics other coaches use to counteract the problem. He continues to stick with the same game plan as he has very little flexibility in his methods.

Newcastle to discuss Hagan's future
November 21, 2005

NEWCASTLE coach Michael Hagan is set to discuss his future with the club over the next 48 hours, with rumours linking him to Parramatta in 2007.

Hagan has one year remaining on his contract at the Knights after enduring a horror 2004 season.

The Knights won the wooden spoon for the first time in the club's history and he quit as coach of the Queensland State of Origin team after losing the series 2-1 to New South Wales.

But Hagan is being hunted by Eels chief executive Denis Fitzgerald, Channel 9 has reported.

The Eels last week announced coach Brian Smith's services would not be required when his contract ends next year and are already looking for a replacement.

Hagan has denied talking with the Eels but chairman Mike Tyler said the board would discuss the matter and resolve the situation quickly.

"We don't really know what Hages thoughts are as far as his own future is concerned," Tyler said on Nine.

So the super coach wants to go to Parra.

Good Luck, hes been a passenger at this club for several years now.

Perhaps someone can tell me exactly what part of the club has improved under his stewardship?

Retention of players - failure.
Recruitment of players - Failure.
Development of players - failure.
Results of club - absolute failure.
Attacking performance - failure.
Defensive performance - failure.
QLD coach - failure.
Benefits of QLD coach flowing through to club - failure.

Need I say more.

Lets hope the club doesn't adopt a knee jerk attitude and resign the bloke, if hes going then lets cast the net wide and get the best possible coach for the best club in the NRL................this will be the plumest position in the game, so lets make the best decision.

Now thats a little harsh. He did win a premiership in his first year, and I know people are gonna say that it was mainly Johns and that Warren Ryan had a big part to do with it, but Hagan was still the coach.

With that said, I wouldn't be angry if he was to leave.

Assuming hes responsible for 01..............whos responsible for 02/03/04/05?

The club has gone backwards since 01, we are worse off in every area since hes been in full command. Thats my problem with the bloke.

I say forget Chris A, lets see who's interested, isn't Sheens off contract?, what about Daniel Anderson, lets get the best person NOT the first person.

I'd love for Matt to be involved in the club as a specialist coach / assistant, he's got a brilliant footy mind but they need a head coach.

I just hope the board doesn't sh*t themselves and throw money at the super coach in panic.

Agreed Nuffy, although 2002 we did do very well except for the last round or so when joey was injured.. Didnt we finish 2nd?

Sheens is not an option. Not a chance in hell the tigpies would let him go.

Matt is making far too much money away from the footy field to be a coach for us unfortunately. Daniel Anderson is a good choice and is off contract at the end of 2006.

The thing I would fear is that Peter Sharp would be available as well and is mates with the Johns boys - he is a hack...

I understand that, and thats part of the reason I wan't him to go. But you stated that he hasn't got any results with the club, and I was proving that he did coach us to a premiership.

Anyone have a feeling Brian Noble might come and coach here?

And almost a minor premiership the year after... what was it for and against we were edged out by 8 points or somthing?
