Hair may have problems, but you just dont sack elite umpires and expect the standard of umpiring to improve.

Well it seems JJ thinks being unflinchingly accurate and holding up the laws of the game to the letter of the law makes an umpire's position untenable.

Good point JJ. Let's sack the top 10 umpires, that'll make things better. After all, they must all be making their positions untenable by being the best.

wow you take the village idiot thing a bit far skeepe

at least you could comment on what I posted, rather than your simpleton interpretation

bet you anything you like there was no statistcally significant difference between Hair and the rest - funny how suddenly stats become important when stupid people think they support what stupid people believe

Hair should never have been sacked. It sets a bad precedent and Pakistan should be ashamed of themselves for the debacle they have created.

The subcontinent now think they own the game and unfortunately the ICC have begun to bend to their every will.
The 3 who voted against the motion (I think it was Aus, Eng and NZ) should withdraw themselves from the ICC and go it alone, we would see the subcontinent teams quickly begging for them to come back after their own cricket falls apart then.

I agree cammo only to the first part, Hair should not have been sacked.

Sub-continent has the power as they generate most of the game's income. But the cricket boards in these countries are not professionally run unlike Australia or NZ. The boards in sub-contenent are controlled by politicians who are more interested in one upmanship and making money than investing in the game's future and infrastructure.

Withdrawing from ICC and doing it alone is not possible as cricket would then be financially unviable. And I dont think sub-continent would be begging for you to come back, it would be the other way round.

Cricket will be viable here and in England because of the Ashes. NZ still have a great rivalry with Aus and Eng and that would keep it alive there. The subcontinent teams could not survive by only playing each other, they need Aus, Eng and NZ to keep interest up over there as it is an International game unlike Rugby League which is predominantly a club game.

I think even a threat to do so would cause the subcontinent or the ICC to back off a bit and start thinking more about the game as a whole rather than solely about themselves.

I want to watch us play the subcontinent teams, but I want to be able to do so without them crying racism whenever a decision goes against them.

India could play Canada in Antarctica (sp?) and it would still be a huge financial success such is the craze in India.

Imagine NZ vs Eng in Eng financial failure.

I hope you're taking the piss... or you have a seriously over-inflated impression of the importance of our countries in the greater scheme of things

you missed the point........again

well perhaps you should make one

I can imagine huge profits from having NZ vs England games in Aust.... and crowds don;t watch cricket at all in NZ.

But yeah, let's go the 3 countries, that would be great for cricket!

Agreed the crowds in matches not involving India were pretty poor, which is not surprising considering all the matches were played in just 3 venues. Generally when matches are spread through out the country most venues get only 1 match and they pack the stadium despite of who is playing.
FFS I have seen packed stadium for WI vs Kenya match.

Another important figure are the TV ratings about 200-300M would have watched matches not involving India and 600+++M for matches involving India.

unfortunately no one wants to play the kiwis atm, which I think is a very poor showing on behalf of the sub continent run ICC

if they (NZ) were rated No 1 in the world, I reckon it would be different

It would never last, after India flog them all by hundreds of runs every game the interest would wane quickly.

The fact is that cricket needs Aus, NZ and Eng as much as it needs the subcontinent. The problem is that the subcontinent and the ICC don't seem to see that.

Thats true, unfortunately. As I said the main reason is the politicians running cricket which needs to change.
