I know realistically the Warriors (and Rugby League in general) are pushing shit uphill, especially given what's happened in 2011 with that Union tournament, but it would be nice to see at least one award go our way.

Lol, I don't begrudge the ABs this year, I just have a prob with the utter trash that is the Halbergs. Utterly snobby and Toff riddled, and appallingly bad double standards through it for years.
Most nominated are excellent in their own rights, and to compare sports with each other is impossible. Some of the snubs over the years have been embarrassing.

I reckon trash it and have a Hall of Fame type honours list instead

Sportsman = McCaw
Sportswoman = Adams
Team = All Bklacks Yawn
Disabled = ???? Jamie Soward
Coach = Henry

Same ol same ol but agree with u LN

But yeah the Halbergs are a total gip, and INFINITELY more predictable than usual considering the androtop blacks won that comp which assailed every sense at every turn for what felt like a good 6 months.

I've never understood how you can have national teams and club teams in the same category. How do you even compare the two?

That's he problem with the Halbergs full stop. How do you compare ANY sport to the other, what excellent sport acheivement is better than another?
I guess you can argue that about any award show...but the Halberg judges are such a bunch of snobby toffs they have this specific heiracy list in their mind of what sport is more 'important' than another. Judge Brendon Telfer even admitted as much on his radio show. If one person wins an olympic gold, and another sportsperson wins an olympic gold as well- there are certain events they think are better than others. It's effin ridiculous.
Lol, one person phoned in and had him buggered though- Asking why Sophie Pascoe didn't win despite FIVE golds! He couldn't answer, simply stammered for a couple of minutes, cut to an ad then changed the subject.
He didn't want to admit paraolympians were not as important as the others-but that's exactly what they'd voted.
I see they've got around that this year by having a specific catagory...:lol:

Ignore it. Don't talk about them. They are irrelevant. If you don't like rugby or rowing (both toffs sports) then you aren't gunna like the Halbergs.
